A 63-year-old dies in pedestrian fatality on Grayson Highway overnight

(Lawrencville, Georgia)  Gwinnett County Police Department reports that a 63-year old man Lawrenceville died in a pedestrian accident last night on Grayson Highway in the Lawrenceville area of Gwinnett County.

According to a press release from GCPD, at about 9:45pm, officers assigned to the Bay Creek Precinct were dispatched to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at Grayson Highway and Maranantha Trail.  Officers arrived on scene along with the Gwinnett County Fire Department and determined that the pedestrian was deceased.  

Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that the pedestrian was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and attempting to cross Grayson Hwy outside of the crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle that hit him remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.  

The deceased was identified as Douglas Johnson of Lawrenceville.  The driver of the car was Chareis Daniels of Lawrenceville.  Daniels was not charged with any violation.
