Arrest made in armed robbery in Monroe

Monroe Police Department reported that an arrest has been made in an armed robbery that took place at 800 W Spring St. in Monroe last week. According to a release on the MPD Facebook page, the alleged robbery took place at about 2.25 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020. The suspect had entered the business and presented a gun while demanding cash. Title First, a title loan company, is the business registered at that address.

MPD reports that a description of the suspect was given and video surveillance led detectives to a suspect. James Doneson, 21, was subsequently arrested in connection with the robbery after evidence was collected after a search warrant was executed at his residence.

Doneson is being held at the Walton County Detention center, without bond, on charges related to armed robbery and other firearms violation.
