Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman confirmed that the body of the missing person they were searching for was recovered from Hard Labor Creek Reservoir. Chapman said they believed when they began the search that she was contemplating suicide.
“But we had hoped that we would find her before that,” Chapman said.
Shirley Robinson, 60, of Social Circle, was reported missing by her family on Sunday and a missing person alert was put out this morning on the Walton County Ga, Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. Chapman said that her body was found at about 11:30 a.m. this morning. A search had been conducted by members of Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Walton County Fire Department, and Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the woman missing on its Facebook Page Monday morning. She had been missing since yesterday when she left her residence in a canoe and was believed to have put the canoe in the water in the area of Sandy Creek Church at Hard Labor Creek Reservoir. Members of WCSO, WCFR and GDNR began the search Sunday and resumed the search this morning. Chapman said he believed that her next of kin have been notified.
