Update: Firefighter injured in overnight fire in Loganville area

Update:

Walton County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Craig League said the firefighter injured in an overnight fire in the Loganville area of the county is expected to be discharged this morning.

“He hasn’t been admitted and will likely be discharged,” League said. “They are basically monitoring his vital signs.”

League said the Red Cross is assisting the family with lodging. The fire caused heavy structural damage to the home.

According to Battalion Chief Craig League with Walton County Fire Rescue, crews responded to a house fire at 12:04 a.m.

“Upon arrival of fire crews the house was well involved,” League said. “One firefighter was injured while fighting the fire, due to a partial roof collapse. He was transported to Clearview Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.”

League said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but is under investigation. He said fire investigators will be back on scene later this morning.
