Breaking: Highway 11 shut down after accident involving a horse

Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020 that Highway 11 at Criswell Road would be shut down for about an hour due to an accident. Maj. Scott Whisnant with WCSO confirmed that a vehicle hit a horse that was running loose on the road. The driver was transported to the hospital by Walton County EMS. The horse was deceased when first responders arrived on the scene.

Georgia State Patrol is working the wreck. One lane remained closed at 9:20 p.m. for crews from Georgia Department of Transportation to removed the horse from the roadway.
