Breaking: Man taken for mental health evaluation after standoff with Loganville Police

A spokesman with the City of Loganville reports that a situation at Walton Planned Community off Lee Byrd Road Friday evening has been resolved.

Robbie Schwartz with the City of Loganville said that police were on standby at the complex trying to talk a person with some mental health issues into coming out of the home to get help. He was breaking out windows and police were attempting to get him to calm down and seek help. No weapons were involved. Schwartz said the situation was peacefully resolved after police were able to force their way in through the back door while other officers were attempting to talk to him.

“The man gave up and no charges will be filed,” Schwartz said. “He was taken away for a mental health evaluation and assistance.”
