Walton County Fire Rescue responded to a male construction worker who had a tree fall on him while he was working on a home on Thoroughbred Trail. Battalion Chief Craig League with WCFR said the call came in at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019.
“The workers were not working on the trees, they were working on the framing of the house. The victim did have a tree fall on him and has very serious traumatic, but non-life threatening injuries,” League said. “The tree was uprooted by the damp soil and windy conditions. The victim was transported by ambulance to Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.”
Much of north Georgia, including Walton, Gwinnett and surrounding counties, is currently under a Wind Advisory. The National Weather Service warned of the possibility of trees being uprooted easily due to recent rains leaving the ground saturated.
