Car break-ins on the rise and WCSO warn of the dangers involved

WCSO asks for assistance from the community in combatting these crimes

Major Scott Whisnant with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community of the dangerous uptick in car break-ins in and around the metro Atlanta area, including in the Walton County communities.

According to the Public Service Announcement that can be viewed below, the perpetrators of these crimes, often gang-related and out of Atlanta or Dekalb County, are armed and not afraid to use weapons. He asks that people make sure to call 911 if you see something suspicious at any time and to share Ring videos that may capture suspects and aid in apprehensions of the suspects. Also, keep the vehicles locked and take valuable out while vehicles are unattended overnight.
