Celebrate Explorers of the North Sea at Leif Erikson Day at Tribble Mill Park Oct. 5

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 5 the community is invited to celebrate the bold explorers of the North Sea and their kilted cousins at Tribble Mill Park in the Lawrenceville area of Gwinnett. This is a living history festival that is a celebration of the customs and legacy of the Vikings of Scandinavia and the Scottish Highlanders.

Those in attendance are invited to dress up in medieval costumes, Scottish kilts or outfits representing the Vikings at this event. They can even participate in mock battles. Staff members from Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation staff members will be dressed up as Vikings. Lief Erikson is believed to be the first known Viking to set foot in North America and the Scottish activities are included to highlight some of the cultures of the first settlers in Georgia.

Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in cool competitions and creative crafts to gain a glimpse into the lives of these ancient and vibrant cultures. For all ages. Cost: $5 per person. Preregister online with code TMP41400 or call 770.814.4920 for more information.
