Cheely’s in Monroe to host its inaugural Hot Dog Eating Contest Saturday

Cheely’s in Monroe is having its inaugural Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest this Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 2 p.m. Unfortunately all the eating spots filled up quickly and include some local firemen and policemen along with Cheely’s regulars. There is a request for Monroe Mayor John Howard to take the top of the ticket, but there is no confirmation at this time whether he has decide to bite!
According to Chad Cheely, the grand prize for the winner will be this handmade leather wrestling-style championship belt made by Curt Green of Bare Bones Leather in Bethlehem.
“His work is very well known. He has been featured on Orange County Choppers. He does many of their custom bike seats,” Cheely said. “The second and third places will be receiving gift cards to Cheely’s. Contestants will be arriving between 1:30 and 1:45 p.m. and the gorging begins at 2 p.m.
Cheely’s is located inside the Monroe Mercantile Market on N. Broad Street in Monroe.
