Last year, the Monroe Community Cat Project finished up having changed the future and in some instances the lives of some of the city’s community cats. More than 100 cats or kittens where trapped, neutered and either placed in new homes or returned to their home on the streets, no longer able to reproduce. The project continues, as does the need to raise funds to continue it, so future fundraisers will be necessary – the first one being a chili cook off scheduled for next month.
The Monroe MCCP Chili cook off fundraiser will take place at 6 p.m. on Feb 12 at the Cotton cafe in Monroe. There will be a $10 admission fee at door. People can enter their own pot of chili into the cook off. If you would like to help, there are several ways you can. If you believe your chili is the best in town, you can enter it for a chance to win or if you have a prize you can donate, you can do that too. The contact person is Dawn Kinsey Smith – you can email her at Dawnkinsey@hotmail.com.
This TNR project has been successful in helping reduce as well as stem the tide of feral cats in downtown Monroe.
