City of Monroe will have a full council for November City Council meeting

Monroe Councilman-elect Tyler Gregory will be sworn in today, Nov. 9, 2020, and will take his seat on the Council for the November City Council meeting on Tuesday.

Gregory beat out Spencer L Seay in last week’s Special Election to fill the unexpired term for District 6, the seat held by the late Wayne Adcock who passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday. Gregory took 72.97 % of the vote, beating out Seay with 378 of the 518 votes cast.

According to his bio, Gregory has lived in Monroe for 7 years, 6 of them in District 6. He is married to Lauren and the couple have a dog, Sam Malone. He is the owner of Gregory STC, a grant writing, strategic planning and consulting services building that works with several local non-profits. He also is a partner in MW-Carpetry, which specializes in home improvement. Gregory was a former director of Monroe Walton Center for the Arts (formerly The Art Guild) and was on the Board of Directors at On Stage Walton. He helped found the Mill Village Residents Association, a grass roots organization where he and neighbors work together to build community in the neighborhood. He also worked at the after-school program at Monroe Area High School and Monroe Elementary School as a tutor. Gregory is a political newcomer and this is the first elected office that he will hold.
