COVID-19: Death toll in Georgia at 38; Confirmed cases at 1097; 361 hospitalized

The death toll in Georgia as a result of CoVID-19  is now at 38, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health and the number of confirmed cases is now 1097 of which 361 are hospitalized. This is the latest update at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. This update is now being given twice a day by the GDPH, at noon and at 7 p.m. each day.

Walton County is still just reporting one confirmed case.

At this time, Georgia is back up to 10th in the United States for the number of confirmed cases and in the sixth place for the number of deaths. It is important that everybody heeds the guidance on how to slow the spread. However, the number of cases reported is directly reflective of the number of tests that are now being done. More than 5,000 tests have been conducted with almost 4,000 of them in commercial laboratories.
