COVID-19: Georgia: 1,899 more positives; 33,942 tests over weekend

The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health at 3  p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2020. Gwinnett County as well as Walton County are each reporting one more death in the last 48 hours. Statewide Georgia is reporting 33 more deaths. Georgia is reporting 1,898 more cases, but that should be viewed in the context that 33,942 more test results were reported in the same period.

Since opening up following the shutdown, Georgia has dropped from 11th in the nation for the number of deaths reported to 13th and from 12th to 17th in the nation for deaths per 1 million in population.

Walton County

Cases –324– That is three more cases in the past 48 hours
Cases per 100,000 –338.2
Total deaths – 22 – that’s one more death reported in the past 48 hours
Hospitalized – 54 – that’s one more hospitalization in the past 48 hours

Walton County Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities (cumulative) *No changes over the past 24 hours except for one more case reported at Park Place

Park Place, Monroe – 90 confirmed resident cases, 33 confirmed staff cases, 21 deaths reported – that is no more deaths reported and one more case reported

Gwinnett County

Cases – 5,172  – that’s 83 new cases reported in the past 48 hours
Cases per 100,000 – 532.6
Total deaths – 152 – that’s two deaths reported in the past 48 hours
Hospitalized – 774  – That is 5 more hospitalizations reported in the last 48 hours

Georgia

Confirmed cases – 57,681 – that is 1,898 more cases reported in the past 48 hours
ICU admissions – 2034 – that’s 13 more reported in the past 48 hours
Hospitalizations – 9,248 – That’s 67 more hospitalizations reported in the past 48 hours
Total deaths – 2,451 – That is 33 more deaths reported in the past 48 hours.

A total of 731,193 COVID-19 tests have been performed to date, 115,727 of them for antibodies. That is 33,942 more than 48 hours ago. A total of 8.1 % of those were positive for COVID-19, 8.5% active and 5.8 % postive through antibody testing.
