COVID-19: Georgia 27; Gwinnett 1; Walton 0 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours

High # of cases reported today likely linked to large number of test results reported

The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020. Gwinnett County is reporting one more death, Walton County is reporting no more deaths and Georgia is reporting 27 more death in the past 24 hours. 

Editor’s Note: The high number of cases reported today (3,603) is likely a result of the high number of tests reported (53,714). It still reflects a 7.3 % positive rate – a decline from the average of 9.3 % positive overall.

Walton County

Cases – 2,593 – 26 reported in the past 24 hours – 187 in the past 2 weeks .
Cases per 100,000 – 2,706 cumulative (195 per 100,000 in past 2 weeks)
Total deaths – 75 – that’s 0 more deaths reported over the past 24 hours (deaths per 100,000 is 78.3)
Testing 8.8 % positive in the past 2 weeks, overall 9.7 % 

Gwinnett County

Cases – 33,937 597 – that’s 336 reported over the past 24 hours (2,434 in the past 2 weeks).
Cases per 100,000 – 3,495 cumulative (251 per 100,000 in past 2 weeks)
Total deaths – 475 – That’s 1 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours (48.8 deaths per 100,000 reported)
Testing – 8.2 % positive in the past 2 weeks, overall 9.6 %

Georgia

Confirmed cases – 391,466 – that is 3,603 more cases reported in the past 24 hours 
ICU admissions – 6,259 – 30 more admission reports in the past 24 hours Hospitalizations – 33,439 – That’s 174 more hospitalizations reported in the past 24 hours, 
Total deaths – 8,496 – That is 27 more death reported in the past 24 hours

A total of 3,954,422,708 viral tests have been performed and 347,926 antibody tests. That is 53,714 viral test results reported in the last 24 hours. Of the viral tests performed collectively, 366,489 (9.3 %) have come back positive and 33,020 (9.5%) antibody tests have come back positive. Today 3,924 (7.3 %) viral tests came back positive.
