COVID-19: Georgia 28, Walton 1, Gwinnett 2 more deaths reported overnight

The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health at 3  p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020. In the last 24 hours, Georgia is reporting 28, Gwinnett is reporting 2, Walton County is reporting 1 and more deaths since 3 p.m. on Sunday. Park Place nursing home is reporting 2 more since Friday. Numbers reported over the weekend, however, were lower than usual, which is what appears to be the norm.

The total number of tests completed to date is 649,384 of which 105,013 are the antibody test. 6,203 people, or 5.9%, have tested positive for the antibodies which indicates that they have had the disease. Of the 53,696 who were tested for COVID-19, 53,696 tested positive at the time, indicating 8.3%. (Editor’s Note: This report also notes that 52,497 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and we do not know why there is a discrepancy).

Since opening up following the shutdown, Georgia has dropped from 11th in the nation for the number of deaths reported to 14th and from 12th to 18th in the nation for deaths per 1 million in population.

Walton County

Cases – 303– That is four cases in the past 24 hours
Cases per 100,000 – 316.2
Total deaths – 16 – that’s one more case in the past 24 hours
Hospitalized – 51 – that’s no more in the past 24 hours

Park Place, Monroe – 89 confirmed resident cases, 33 confirmed staff cases, 21 deaths reported – that is two more deaths reported over the weekend, 3 residents reported recovered

Gwinnett County

Cases – 4,440 – that’s eight new cases reported in the past 24 hours
Cases per 100,000 – 473.5
Total deaths – 139 – that’s two more deaths reported in the past 24 hours
Hospitalized – 722  – That is 12 more hospitalizations reported in the last 24 hours

Georgia

Confirmed cases – 52,497 – that is 599 more cases reported in the past 24 hours
ICU admissions – 1,925 – that’s 16 more reported in the past 24 hours
Hospitalizations –8,746 – That’s 61 more hospitalizations reported in the past 24 hours
Total deaths – 2,208   – That is 28 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours.
