COVID-19: Georgia cases top 100,000 since mid-March; more than 1 million tested

Georgia reports 21, Gwinnett 0, Walton 0 deaths in past 24 hours

The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. Gwinnett County and Walton County are reporting no more deaths. Georgia is reporting 21 more deaths and 3,406 more cases in the last 24 hours. 

Walton County’s 28 deaths reported to date include 14 males and 14 females. All but one of the victims was over 60 and six of them were over 90. One woman and three men were African American and the other 24 were caucasian.

Cases – 490 – That’s 15 more cases reported in the past 24 hours
Cases per 100,000 –511.4
Total deaths – 28 – that’s no more deaths reported in the past 24 hours
Hospitalized – 65 – that’s two more hospitalizations reported in the past 24 hours

Walton County Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities (cumulative) No more deaths reported in Walton County nursing homes or assisted living facilities in the last 24 years.

Park Place, Monroe – 90 confirmed resident cases, 33 confirmed staff cases, 23 deaths reported 
The Retreat at Loganville Pearl Memory Care Building – 13 confirmed resident cases, four deaths
The Retreat at Loganville: one confirmed resident case, one reported recovered no staff cases, no deaths

Hollander Senior Living, Monroe, one confirmed staff case, no deaths

Social Circle Nursing and Rehab in Social Circle is reporting that one resident tested positive for COVID-19, no deaths and one person recovered. It is reporting that 26 of the 56 residents have been tested.

Gwinnett County

Cases – 9,972 – that’s 185 new cases reported in the past 24 hours
Cases per 100,000 – 1027 
Total deaths – 174 – that’s no more death reported in the past 24 hours
Hospitalized – 1,188– That is 38 more hospitalizations reported in the last 24 hours

Georgia

Confirmed cases – 100,470 – that is 3,406 more cases reported in the past 24 hours
ICU admissions – 2,471 – that’s 30 more reported in the past 24 hours Hospitalizations – 12,226 – That’s 307 more hospitalizations reported in the past 24 hours
Total deaths – 2,899 – That is 21 more death reported in the past 24 hours.

A total of 1,150,472 tests have been performed, 171,020 of them for antibodies. That is 20,723 test results reported in the last 24 hours, 224 of them for antibody tests. Of the tests performed, 8.7 % have come back positive, 9.4 % positive on active cases and 5.2 % on antibody testing.
