COVID-19: Georgia Governor: Cases are down 64 % from peak and state is 34th in the nation per 100,000 residents

Governor Brian Kemp gave an update this morning on Georgia and the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that the new cases are down 64 % from peak which was reached on July 24 and Georgia is now 34th in new cases reported per 100,000 residents. He added that confirmed hospitalizations are currently at 1,287 and that is down 60 % from the peak and are 8.8 % of total people in Georgia at the moment.

The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health at 3 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 7, 2020. Gwinnett County is reporting one more deaths and Walton County is reporting two more death in the past 24 hours. Georgia is reporting 32 more deaths and 1554 cases in the past 24 hours. 

Walton County

Cases – 1,904 – 21 reported in the past 24 hours – 124 in the past 2 weeks .
Cases per 100,000 – 1,987 cumulative (129 per 100,000 in past 2 weeks
Total deaths – 59 – that’s 2 more deaths reported over the past 24 hours (deaths per 100,000 is 61.6)
Testing % positive in the past 2 weeks, overall 9.4 % 

Gwinnett County

Cases – 28,327 – that’s 120 reported over the past 24 hours (1,245 in the past 2 weeks).
Cases per 100,000 – 2,917 cumulative (128 per 100,000 in past 2 weeks)
Total deaths – 419 – That’s 1 more death reported in the past 24 hours (43.1 deaths per 100,000 reported)
Testing – 5.2 % positive in the past 2 weeks, overall 10.6 %

Georgia

Confirmed cases – 326,142 – that is 1,554 more cases reported in the past 24 hours
ICU admissions –5,439 – that is 34 more admissions in the past 24 hours Hospitalizations – 29,308 – That’s 154 more hospitalizations reported in the past 24 hours, 
Total deaths – 7,259 – That is 32 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours

A total of 3,058,187 viral tests have been performed and 307,358 antibody tests. That is 13,395 viral test results reported in the last 24 hours. Of the viral tests performed collectively, 305174 (10.0 %) have come back positive and 26,016 (8.5%) antibody tests have come back positive. Today 773 (5.8 %) viral tests came back positive.

Walton County Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities (cumulative) No more deaths reported in Walton County nursing homes or assisted living facilities for several weeks.

Gardens of Social Circle – 3 staff members and 2 residents have tested positive. No deaths reported. 

Great Oak, Monroe – 2 staff members and 1 resident (1 resident reported recovered) at Great Oaks – no deaths reported

Hollander Senior Living, Monroe, 1 confirmed staff case, no deaths – That’s no more staff cases reported in past 24 hours

Magnolia Senior Living – Loganville – (Gwinnett County) has 1 staff member who has tested positive 

Park Place, Monroe – 90 confirmed resident cases, 34 confirmed staff cases, 23 deaths reported  
The Retreat at Loganville Pearl Memory Care Building – 23 confirmed resident cases, four deaths – 19 recovered 
The Retreat at Loganville: three confirmed resident case, three reported recovered, two staff cases, no deaths 

Social Circle Nursing and Rehab in Social Circle is reporting that 23 residents and 13 staff members tested positive for COVID-19 and two resident death were reported.
