COVID-19: hospitalizations and deaths down; 1 more local nursing home death

The Park Place nursing home lost one more resident overnight, bringing the total deaths to 19. There have been 89 residents test positive (results are cumulative), 68 active with two residents recovered, 33 staff members have tested positive and two recovered.

With the four residents who passed away in April at the Pearl Memory Care building at the Retreat in Loganville, 23 nursing home residents have passed away with COVID-19  in Walton County, but they were probably not all Walton County residents. Walton County is only reporting that it has lost 15 residents to COVID-19.

The following is a snapshot of the statistics reported by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources at 3  p.m. on June 5, 2020.

Walton County

Cases – 297 288 – That is nine more cases in the last 24 hours
Cases per 100,000 – 310
Total deaths – 15 – that’s no more cases in the next 24 hours
Hospitalized – 51 – that’s no more in the last 24 hours

Walton County Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities (cumulative) *

Park Place, Monroe – 89 confirmed resident cases, 33 confirmed staff cases, 18 deaths reported – that is one more death in the last 24 hours.
The Retreat at Loganville Pearl Memory Care Building – 13 confirmed resident cases, four deaths
The Retreat at Loganville: one confirmed resident case, no staff cases, no deaths.

Gwinnett County

Cases – 4,372 – that’s 105 new cases reported in the past 24 hours
Cases per 100,000 – 450.2
Total deaths – 136 – that’s one more death reported in the past 24 hours
Hospitalized – 707  – That is 14 more hospitalizations reported in the last 24 hours

Georgia

Confirmed cases – 50,621 – that is 774 more cases reported in the last 24 hours
ICU admissions – 1,872 – that’s 25 more reported in the past 24 hours
Hospitalizations –8,557 – That’s 89 more hospitalizations reported in the past 20 hours
Total deaths – 2,174  – That is 27 more deaths reported in the last 20 hours.
