COVID? Flu? Allergies? What’s the Difference?

press release from Piedmont Walton

Each fall, we see an increase in the flu, common cold and, early in the season, allergies. This year, we are also dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. How do you know if you or a family member has the flu, COVID-19 or a respiratory illness? Know the key differences to watch for and when to seek medical care.
What’s the difference between COVID, cold, flu and allergies?

It can be difficult to tell the difference between the flu and COVID-19 based on symptoms alone. Both are viral illnesses and can present in the same way in terms of respiratory symptoms, fever and aches. That’s why the best way to determine if you have the flu or COVID-19 is through testing.

To be safe this season, we are asking anyone with symptoms such as these to book virtual visits at primary care. Patients can book either via MyChart, online at piedmont.org or by calling your provider’s office.

With confidence, we move forward, and hand in hand we #KeepCaringOn.
