The community is invited to the Dedication of the Walton County Veterans Memorial at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. This has been a long time in coming and is the culmination of countless hours of planning, fundraising and volunteering. This all began as an idea back in 2005 with a conversation between Commissioner Kevin Little and Joe Jackson – a WWII veteran who witnessed the raising of the American flag at Iwo Jima in 1945. It took 11 years before ground was broken on Sept. 2, 2016. And now, little more than two years later, the monument is complete and ready to be dedicated. It is located in front of the Walton County Government Building which is centrally located and can be seen and enjoyed by everyone. It is located at 303 S Hammond Drive, Monroe.
