The City of Monroe Police Department is inviting the community to join them for Coffee with a Cop from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Coffee Camper, 101 N. Broad Street, Monroe.
Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together-over coffee-to discuss issues and learn more about each other.
“Don’t forget Coffee with a Cop is next Saturday, March 16th at the Coffee Camper in downtown Monroe.,” MPD published on its Facebook page.
If you can’t make it next Saturday, you still have another opportunity this month. MPD is holding another Coffee With A Cop the following Saturday, March 23, at the Cotton Cafe, just a little further north and across the street.
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the country in an effort to enable local police departments to make better and lasting connections with the communities they serve. The program is an attempt to advance the practice of community policing by improving relationships between police officers and community members “one cup of coffee at a time.”
