Walton County Fire Rescue crews were kept busy Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 26, 2017) responding to several incidents, including helping Monroe Fire Department with a fatal car accident, a mother sustaining serious injuries when her 16-year-old son allegedly pushed her and fires in Gratis and Good Hope.
“We have a working house fire in Gratis, a cotton bailer on fire in Good Hope and a serious accident in downtown Monroe, all going on at once,” said Capt. Jeff Allen with Walton County Fire Rescue.
Crews from WCFR helped Monroe Fire Department worked the accident that resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy from Monroe and MFD assisted WCFR in a house fire on Derwood Lane off Clarence Odum Road in Gratis. At 4:30 p.m., Allen reported that crews but the fire under control but had to remain on the scene for a while.
“No injuries were reported,” Allen said, adding that WCFR crews also had a cotton bailer on fire at Highway 83 and Marion Ivey Road in Good Hope at the same time. That also was brought under control by the crews.
