(Loganville, Ga., March 18, 2019) – Gwinnett County fire investigators have ruled arson as the cause of a mid-morning fire at a dilapidated mobile home in unincorporated Loganville. The trailer is located at the 100 block of Howe Lane, SW in Loganville.
“A passerby called 911 on Monday, March 18, 2019, at 8:47 am to report smoke coming from an abandoned trailer. There was no one found inside the trailer and no injuries were reported. The fire caused minor damage to the interior and sent moderate smoke throughout the sparsely furnished structure,” said Capt. Tommy Rutledge, public information officer for Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said in a press release. “Witnesses told investigators that older teens and adults are known to frequent the trailer and may be involved with vandalism and drug activity. Signs of graffiti inside and broken windows littered the mobile home.”
Rutledge said fire investigators report that someone unlawfully entered the mobile home and set a small fire. Specific details about how and where the fire was started inside the trailer are not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
“There is certain information about the case that’s known only to fire investigators and the person responsible for the crime,” Rutledge said.
Anyone with information about the fire or the person responsible is asked to contact the Gwinnett Fire Investigations Section at 678.518.4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1.800.282.5804.
