Free boxes of fresh produce will be distributed in Monroe on July 18

From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, there will be free boxes of fresh produce available for pickup at 1025 Baptist Church in Monroe. The give away is part of the Coronavirus Farm Assistance Program.

The USDA is purchasing food and packaging it into family-sized boxes for local food pantries and religious organizations to distribute. This is a combined project between Family to Family and Faith in Serving Humanity. There will be one box available per household.

It will take place in the morning in order to avoid the afternoon heat. The 1025 Baptist Church is located at 1025 E. Spring Street in Monroe. This is drive-thru only. Anyone picking up a box is asked to remain in their vehicle and follow the signs.

The Monroe Lions Club helped organize the opportunity.
