On Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Fatality Review (CFR) Unit will be facilitating a Youth Suicide Awareness and Prevention Summit at the Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Center.  This summit is being held to address the rise in youth suicides in Georgia, discuss how to recognize warning signs, and learn about what the Department of Education and other agencies are doing about it.  Georgia State Senator Renee Unterman will be our special guest.  GBI Director Vernon Keenan will be available for interviews.  Parents, educators, child advocates, caregivers, & CFR team members are encouraged to attend.

In 2017 alone, the GBI’s CFR Unit has reported 38 youth suicides in Georgia.  Together, we can be the ones to instill hope in the lives of our youth & work towards reducing this number to zero.

This forum is open to the public and will be held at the Gwinnett Justice Center from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. at the Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Center Auditorium, 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
