As the fall weather finally settles in, the annual city fall festivals in the local area come to an end this weekend with the Good Hope Poppy Festival. This festival honors the Poppy Lady, Moina Michael, who was born in Good Hope in 1869 and went on to make the Poppy a global symbol honoring fallen servicemen. Presented by Walton EMC, the Good Hope Poppy Festival offers a fun fall day full of activities for the community in downtown Good Hope.
The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 169 Highway 83, Good Hope – rain or shine. Rain is not in the forecast but be sure to dress warmly. It is not expected to top 60 degrees all day.
The Poppy Bike Ride and presentation of the colors will open the event. Click or tap on this link for a full list of activities during the day.
