Officials at the Retreat at Loganville said they had a magnificent turn out for their Memorial Day Family Car Parade on Friday, May 22.
“The crowd was full of smiles, laughter and tears of joy. All our residents were outside early with anticipation of seeing their loved ones drive by. Everyone wore bright patriotic colors,” officials noted.
Since the quarantine began, residents have been isolated from their families for health reasons and missing out on special events. Officials thought Memorial Day was a good time to address both problems and give residents and their families something to get excited about. Jessica Ingram, program director and Linda Kinnersley, community engagement director got together with Loganville Mayor Rey Martinez for city participation and with the families of residents.
“There were 20 cars that participated in the event. Our resident’s families outdid themselves, decorating their cars, trucks and motorcycles with patriotic decorations and messages of encouragement and love. We would like to thank all our residents and family members for participating with such enthusiasm. A special thanks to Mayor Rey Martinez, the Loganville Fire Departments and the City of Loganville Police Department for participating in our event. A big thanks to Jessica Ingram, Program Outreach Director and Linda Kinnersley, Community Engagement Director for coordinating this event. We would also like to thank all our staff for helping make our parade a success!”
