GSP is working alongside Atlanta PD to help reduce crime in the city

(ATLANTA) – Troopers from Troop C and Troop D worked alongside the Atlanta Police Department this past weekend with their “Violent Crime Reduction” plan.  

On Friday and Saturday, GSP troopers concentrated on traffic enforcement in the city of Atlanta, focusing heavily on suspicious/criminal activity of drivers, impaired driving, speeding, recovery of stolen vehicles, etc.  On Friday troopers focused enforcement efforts between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. and on Saturday between 12 p.m. and 2 a.m.     

Over the weekend enforcement troopers reported stopping 328 vehicles, resulting in 230 traffic citations, 267 warnings, six impaired drivers arrested, six wanted persons apprehended, two drug arrests, two stolen weapons recovered, and three stolen vehicles recovered. These included one vehicle, one motorcycle, and one ATV.  Also, GSP was involved in four pursuits and investigated 24 crashes during the detail.
