Gwinnett County PD seek help in identifying carjacking suspect

The Gwinnett County Police Department Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s help in identifying and solving a recent carjacking in the unincorporated Norcross area of Gwinnett County.

According to a press release from GCPD, on May 9, 2017, officers responded to a carjacking call at Preston Lake Drive and South Norcross Tucker Road. The victim was a taxi driver who reported that he had picked up the suspect at the Shell Gas Station at Jimmy Carter Blvd and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and drove him to the apartment complex on Preston Lake Drive. On arrival at the complex, the taxi driver was allegedly held up at gunpoint by his passenger. He handed over his money and the suspect then got into the driver’s seat and drove away after the victim had left the taxi. The taxi was later recovered near Preston Lake Drive and South Norcross Tucker Road.

Video obtained shows the suspect at the Shell Gas Station shortly before he is seen getting into the back passenger seat of the taxi. The suspect is described as a black male, 5-06, appx 20 years old, black t-shirt, , olive green pants, white sneakers, blue book-bag.
