Walton County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire overnight at 110 North Crosslane Road in the Bold Springs Community.

“The fire was dispatched at 12:51 am. Upon arrival, the home was found to be approximately 75% involved in fire,” said WCFR Assistant Chief Craig League. “Units were able to eventually extinguish the fire, but not before the home was destroyed.”

League said nobody was at home at the time of the fire, they were away on vacation. He said a neighbor called 911 after reportedly hearing a popping sound.

“The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined yet, fire investigators are set to return to the scene today for a fire cause determination investigation,” League said. “There was some lightning in the area around 9 – 9:30 last night, but if that was the cause remains to be determined.
