Walton County Fire Rescue report that a call out to a house fire just before 10 p.m. on Friday night, June 22, 2018, in the Monroe area of Walton County was the result of a lightning strike.
“WCFR responded to a home struck by lightning at 3035 Kari Brook Lane. Upon arrival fire department personnel had light smoke coming from the attached garage. There was light fire and smoke damage to the inside of garage,” said Battalion Chief Craig League. “There was also a pickup truck that sustained some minor damage due to the fire.”
League said it was determined that lightning ran into the home via electrical wires going to a water sprinkler control box mounted in the garage.
