City officials put out feelers to see if it was feasible to still have the Loganville Autumn Fest in October 2020 despite COVID-19 and, based on the response, the festival is on – at least at this time.
Kristy Daniel, event and marketing coordinator for the City of Loganville said the information had been sought from both vendors as well as potential attendees and it appears that about 70 % of the people asked were in favor of the city having it and would attend.
“We spoke to organizers of the Braselton festival and asked how they handled it and got some ideas,” Daniel said. Officials agreed that if something came up with COVID-19 that absolutely ruled out being able to have it, the application fee from vendors would be refunded.
Peggy Cannella, an organizer of the Braselton Vintage Market festival who spoke to Daniel, said they sent out requests to vendors to provide sanitizer, to maintain 6-foot distancing and to stay home if sick.
“We provided comfort stations to have masks..( didn’t hand out one). We overstaffed to hand out sanitizer, gloves and to answer any questions, to clean every hour.. door handles bathrooms golf carts..anything anyone touched,” Cannella said. “We posted signs and also repeatedly posted on our Facebook page regarding these suggestions.”
The Braselton Vintage Market took place on the weekend of July 24, 25 and 26. Cannella said they had a great response to the festival and actually have another, smaller one, next weekend.
“So many vendors snd buyers were so happy to be out and the vendors made a lot of sales,” Cannella said.
Daniel said they plan to space the booths out to accommodate the 6 ft social distancing and to ask vendors to limit the number of attendees in a booth at any one time. The Loganville Autumn Fest is scheduled for Oct. 17, with a rain date of Oct. 24th. Vendors interested in participating in the event can find applications online at www.loganvilleevents.com under the Festivals tab.
