Loganville Christmas Parade scheduled for Saturday

The Special Olympic Athletes are Grand Marshals

With the new Christmas Tree lit and the holiday decorations adorning the streets, the City of Loganville is preparing for its annual Christmas parade. This year it is presented by Piedmont Walton Hospital. The participants will leave from Bay Creek Elementary School at 6 p.m.According to Kristy Daniel with the City of Loganville, plenty of local businesses, school groups and other organizations have signed up to participate.

The Walton County Special Olympic athletes are serving as the grand marshals for this year’s parade up Main Street. They were scheduled for last year, but a torrential downpour and strong thunderstorms resulted in the parade having to be canceled so they will get to carry the honor this year instead. Although there is a possibility of rain sometime Friday, officials hope that it will hold off during the parade. However, there are no predictions of thunder or lightning so there is no intention to let a little moisture dampen the Christmas spirit. Put on your rainwear, bring out your umbrella and join in the fun!
