Lady Red Devils are headed for State playoffs Oct. 19
The Loganville varsity volleyball team completed their regular season last week with a record of 28-21, finishing as Region 8AAAAA runner up to top 5 ranked Buford team in the region tournament. This is the third straight year that they finish as region runner-up. The second-place finish puts them as a #2 seed going into the GHSA State tournament. This is the fourth straight year that the team has qualified for the state tournament, with the past two seasons advancing to the Sweet 16. They look to do this again as they will travel to Statesboro high school on Saturday, Oct. 19 to play Grady High School in the first round of the state playoffs.
Loganville players and the coach also brought home some region awards. Senior Kamra King (center) was named the 2019 Region Player of the Year for the second straight year. Her Senior teammates Courtney Smith (left) and Summer Bruner (right) were named to the 2019 All-Region Team, along with Kamra. Coach Joseph King was named as Region Coach of the Year.
“This team has worked hard and really put together a great season. Their chemistry and teamwork has helped them improve all season long. They are continuing the success of our program, and I look forward to finishing up strong in the state tournament next week,” King said. “I couldn’t be more proud of this group and what they have accomplished this season!”
