Monroe Area and Loganville High both logged wins in the first round of the 2018 Georgia High School Football playoff games. The dream is over, however, for George Walton Academy and Loganville Christian Academy. Both lost their games Friday in the opening round and will have to wait until next year to try again.
Monroe Area’s Hurricanes beat Pace Academy 38-22 and will go on to face Dawson County on Nov. 16 in Round 2 and Loganville High pulled out a 14-13 squeaker against undefeated Southwest Dekalb to move on as well. The Red Devils face Carrolton next week in Round 2.
George Walton Academy went down to Riverside 14-24 and Loganville Christian Academy lost a close one to Trinity Christian 6-7.
