Monroe City Council to assign contract to seek new fire chief

The Monroe City Council will have its November meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020. City Council members are expected to vote to contract with Ralph Anderson & Associates to begin a nationwide search for the director position of City of Monroe Fire Chief. This position became available on Sept. 1 this year when former chief Bill Owens was relieved of his duties. Since then, the duties of fire chief have been performed by battalion chiefs Jack Armstrong, Joe Page and Andrew Dykes reporting to Monroe City Administrator Logan Propes. According to officials, local and current employees also are eligible to apply for the position of fire chief with the city.

The meeting takes place at the Monroe City Hall on N. Broad Street. The community is invited to attend. The full agenda follows.
