Monroe man and his grandson catch large alligator in quota hunt

This Alligator Quota Hunt Season was a good one for Monroe resident Skippy Higginbotham and his grandson Chase Wade. The two brought home a big one caught on Lake Seminole during the DNR quota hunt over this year’s Georgia Alligator season.

Lake Seminole is a reservoir in the southwest corner of Georgia along the Florida border and, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, it is in Zone 02 of the legal alligator hunt area. The 2019 season opened at Sunset on Friday, Aug. 16 and closes at Sunrise on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, and anyone must have someone in the party with a valid Alligator Harvest Permit. The deadline to apply for one this year, however, has passed. Click or tap on this link for more information on the DNR Alligator Hunting Season and Regulations.
