Monroe officials to consider 7 upscale townhomes downtown at Tuesday’s City Council meeting

The City of Monroe will have its October Called Meeting and Work Session at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020 at City Hall, 215 N. Broad Street.

On the agenda is an application for a conditional use permit that would make way for seven upscale townhomes to be constructed between S. Madison and Milledge Avenue downtown, across the road from the Town Green.

According to the application, the 2-story townhome villas would be brick and hardi-plank with balconies to enable residents to sit outside and enjoy the downtown events. Four would face Madison Avenue and three in the rear of the complex would front Milledgeville Avenue. There would be an enclosed garage with each unit and a shared back alleyway that would allow for additional parking.

Updates on plans for park upgrades also will be discussed at the meeting. The regular City Council meeting takes place at the same place and time next week Tuesday, Oct. 13. The public is invited to attend both events. The full agenda for today’s meeting follows.
