Monroe PD Reports: Cell phone company employee charged with theft by deception

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period April 27 to May 3, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Vehicle, Pannell Rd./South Madison, complainant advised a blue Chevy Silverado was going door to door and through people’s trash in the area of brush creek subdivision. Turned over to Walton County Sheriff’s Office..
  • Meet With person at Holly Hill Road. Make contact with complainant in reference his granddaughter being arrested in Loganville and his car being at Ace Hardware.
  • Theft, Double Springs Church Road., Monroe Area High School, reference to someone stealing student’s money ($100) from his locker.
  • Theft complaint in lobby on South Broad Street – Monroe Police Department in reference to complainant reporting her checkbook stolen, possibly by named subject.
  • Suspicious Vehicle. Highway 138, reference to a black Chevy truck failing to maintain lane. Vehicle turned into a subdivision in the county, prior to reaching Monroe city limits.
  • Mental health subject, Breedlove Dr., Ridgeview. Female patient on location refusing to get into van to return to personal care home in Covington. Patient advised she was too scared to go back and made claims of mistreatment. She appeared in good health and condition. Patient calmed down and got into van without incident.
  • Theft, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to a stolen license plate. Call canceled, complainant advised they were at the Walmart in Loganville, not Monroe.
  • Damage to Property, South Broad St., Vehicle backed into a small pole in the parking lot.  Accident turned over toGeorgia State Patrol.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Plaza Dr., reference to an occupied silver van sitting in front of the playground. Made contact with the subjects in the van. The driver advised she was waiting for her daughter to get off the school bus. Everything ok.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Acardia Court, made contact with complainant. She advised there has been a consistent issue with three teenagers cutting through her yard. Today they threw a 2-liter bottle of soda at her residence. She did not know the males nor knew where they lived. She was advised of remedies.
  • Fraud Report, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, AT&T Wireless. AT&T manager advised he had an employee buying IPhone X’s with credit cards that belonged to customers. Suspect was read Miranda and did not wish to speak. He was arrested and charged with Theft by Deception warrants to be taken.
  • Transport, reference to transporting Anthony Pace from Monroe PD to the Walton County Jail, Anthony Pace was turned over to the Walton County Jail without incident. 
  • Illegally Parked Vehicles in the cul-de-sac of Kendell Ct., reference to a black Ford SUV and a Silver sedan on location for over a month. The Ford SUV was legally parked in front of the owner’s residence as well as the silver sedan. Everything on location ok.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Landers St., reference to father stating a group of female juveniles were on location disputing with his daughters, the juveniles were gone when officers arrived, everything on location ok.
  • Meet in Person, Sporty Lane, reference to complainant wanting a lift to a homeless shelter in Athens.  She was outside her daughter’s residence and advised she needs to find a ride to Athens.
  • Stolen Vehicle, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to named female subject taking complainant’s 1994 Toyota 4-Runner. Vehicle recovered by WCSO. Warrants to be taken for theft by taking motor vehicle against subject.
  • Dispute, Baron Dr., reference to a group of males banging on the door of complainant.  Unknown what they wanted complainant contacted 911 and they left the area on foot.
  • Stolen Vehicle, GW Carver Apt., reference to complainant 2006 Cadillac CTS taken from GW Carver.
  • Animal Complaint, Indian Creek Dr., reference to an ongoing issue with dogs barking.
  • 38D (drugs) Complaint, North Broad St., Deer Acres Inn, room with a loud party with juveniles fleeing the area. A marijuana cigarette and an ecstasy were found. One juvenile was located with a warrant out of WCSO, was transported to Rockdale Youth Detection Center.
  • Prisoner Transport, Dekalb County, Kenneth Crawford was picked up from Dekalb County Jail, and transported to the Walton County Jail.
  • Shots Fired, Mobley Cir., reference to caller hearing gunshots in the area, area check conducted with negative contact.
  • Dispute, Bell St., reference to two resident disputing over rent money, Owner stated he wanted other one to move out, owner was advised of the civil process, everything on location ok.
  • Welfare Check, Mayfield Dr., reference to phone being located in this area checked all known areas of residence in the area but could not locate anyone that needed police assistance.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Taco Bell, reference to male loitering on property waiting for employee to get off work. Subject gave false name and date of birth and fled. Caught on Etton Drive and identified as Brandis Slaton. Arrested for warrants from WCSO and warrants taken for false name and DOB and obstruction.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Ridge Apt., reference to mother daughter not being at the location advised she would be and not being reachable by phone. Mother had contact with the daughter upon the officer’s arrival, mother stated her daughter was in Loganville with family friends and verified she was there over the phone. mother advised she would be picking her up in the morning from Loganville, report declined at this time.  
  • Juvenile Complaint, South Broad St., kids in the area being loud negative contact with anyone out in the area.
  • Domestic, West Spring St., Huddle House, reference to female subject disputing with another female, one female was intoxicated and disruptive she was observed striking other female on the face. She was charged with family violence simple battery and public drunkenness.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Tanglewood Dr., A red Chevrolet Camaro may have struck something.  The vehicle was located on Tanglewood with fresh grass stuck to the front.  The owner accidentally ran off the roadway and declined a report.
  • Mental Patient, Turner St., caller advised her neighbor who stays on Turner St. was stating he was feeling pins under his skin and thought he was being attacked with gas. Neighbor transported to Piedmont by EMS.
