Monroe PD Reports: Dispute on N. Broad leads to drug and gun charges

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents from March 29 to April 5, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Meet with units on Lacy St., Transport four arrestees to MPD for fingerprinting and then to the jail following a search warrant.
  • Dispute N Broad St., Upon Officer arrival, subject fled the scene. Officer made contact with male subject and Antonio Hendricks. Antonio was found to be wanted out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office for probation. Search incident to arrest a small quantity of marijuana and cocaine were found along with a digital scale and 6 tablets of suspected MDMA were located. Antonio charged for Poss of Cocaine, Poss of Drug Rel Obj, Poss of Sch II, Poss of marijuana less than 1 OZ. Blue Honda with two black males partial tag (RCI) left south on North Broad St. Made contact with similar vehicle on West Marable and arrested Demetrice Lawson possession firearm by convicted felon, possession of cocaine, possession of meth, possession of schedule II (Percocet), drugs not in original container, and probation violation. Vehicle returned with suspended registration and was towed by towing company.
  • Civil Issue, Felker St., complainant allowed his homeless friend to stay at his residence last night. She was supposed to leave this morning but was still on location when complainant arrived home from dropping kids off at school. Homeless friend left the residence prior to officer arrival. Advised complainant to call 911 if she returns. All ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 138/Michael Etchison Rd., reference reckless driving, subject was headed towards the County. Contact made with a white Expedition, no moving violation observed.
  • Threats, Birch St., complainant advised that her nephew is upset that he can no longer stay at this address. She advised he called her telephone and cussed her out. She advised he has been drinking. No report was requested, she was advised of remedies.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, North Broad St., complainant stated she was concerned about an elderly subject driving a white Ford Explorer that ran her off of the road on Highway 78.  She stated there was no damage caused to her vehicle.  Requested the subject be checked on.  Was unable to make contact with the Ford Explorer.  All ok.
  • Transport SRO requested transport of Tierra Clay for theft by taking. Fingerprinted and transported to jail without incident.
  • Welfare Check, West Spring St., reference to a 2000 Toyota Avalon in the parking lot with a K9 inside.  The K9 was ok, made contact with the driver.  Owner of the K9 lectured on the dangers with leaving a K9 in the vehicle even on a nice breezy day. All ok.
  • Home Invasion, McDaniel St., 10-year-old heard a noise that sounded like someone breaking in. Once officers were on scene, made contact with mom who had just stepped next door. Little girl advised she heard the back door make a noise and that their dogs did not start barking until we arrived in the home. All was ok.
  • Armed subjects, Mill Creek Way, Juveniles were located with BB Guns. Advised to take them home and be aware where they play with them.
  • EMS Assist, E. Fambrough St., 2 Juveniles were playing when one fell and accidentally kicked the other. Turned over to EMS.
  • Fight, Cook Place. No Fight but neighbors arguing over a man.
  • Dispute, Birch St., complainant called reference to named male subject being on scene causing a dispute.  Male subject advised he was getting his belongings and leaving.  Complainant advised male subject was not supposed to be on location.  He left with his belongings. 
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Atha Rd. Caller advised of dirt bikes riding in the road way. Conducted an area check and was unable to locate.
  • Discharge Firearms, Towler St./Walton Mills. Caller advised shots were fired in the area. Conducted an area check and was unable to locate.
  • Welfare Check, Sweet Gum Dr., reference to checking on female subject.  Negative contact with anyone on location.
  • Suspicious Person, Waffle House N Broad St. Staff advised a male was upset because they got his order wrong. He became angry and yelling and refused to leave. Male was gone prior to arrival.
  • Burglary, Magnolia St., complainant stated his back door had been kicked in while he was at work. No items were taken from the residence, at the time of the report.
  • 911 Hang-Up, Turner St., reference to thinking named subject took her wallet and car keys. Named subject was not in possession of the keys or wallet. He was picked up by his mother and left the scene. Report taken
  • Juvenile complaint, East Marable St., reference to child not wanting to go to school. Child was in the process of getting ready upon my arrival. Her mother advised she missed the bus and would try to get her to school in Barrow County. All ok.
  • Animal Complaint, Lopez Lane, reference to a German Shepard mix circling the complainant’s vehicle at the front of the subdivision. Units were unable to detain K-9 and WCAC would not respond to assist.
  • Entering Auto, Lacy St., reference to someone breaking into complainant’s vehicle and stealing his Hi Point pistol. Report taken, firearm placed on GCIC.
  • Suspicious Person, Felker St., reference to a DIRECTV contractor on location. All ok.
  • Fight in Progress, Davis St., 16-year-old got into a physical altercation with named subject. Subject was gone on officers’ arrival. No known injuries. 16-year-old was turned over to his mother. All ok.
  • Juvenile Complaint, North Midland Ave., reference to juveniles knocking on the complainant’s door. Situation mediated.
  • Traffic Stop, Highway 78E at North Broad St., Sheridon Warren was stopped for a traffic violation.  Mr. Warren had a suspended license and three warrants for his arrest out of Decatur County Georgia. Mr. Warren was also found to be in possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce.  Mr. Warren was arrested, fingerprinted and turned over to the staff at the Walton County Jail.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Baron Dr., reference to several juveniles disputing. Officers had negative contact.
  • Dispute, Birch St., reference to male subject not taking his medication. Subject took his medication, while Officers were on scene.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart, Courtney Crutchfield was arrested for felony shoplifting.
  • Suspicions Vehicle, Highway 78 West, reference to a black Ford F150 failing to maintain lane. Officers made contact with driver who was tired and sleepy. He was picked up by his girlfriend.
  • Welfare Check, South Broad St., reference to male subject on location acting out. Male subject is the son of father who called Benchmark to have him evaluated because he made plans to kill his fiance. Benchmark signed a medical order and male subject was transported to Clearview Regional Medical Center for a mental evaluation.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Little Ceasar’s, reference to a female walking around the parking lot appearing to be disorientated.  Negative contact with anyone
  • Shoplifter, West Spring St., Hibbert Sports, reference to subject attempting to steal a jacket. Subject took the jacket out of his book bag once police arrived. Was released to his mother.
