Monroe PD Reports: Disputes, fights and ‘vicious’ pit bull complaint that turned out to be a Shih Tzi

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Oct. 19 – 25, 2018. This report has been split into five parts due to the length. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Psychotic Subject, West Spring St., Hospital staff was having problems with one of their mental patients. Staff was assisted with the subject. All ok.
  • Assault, West Spring St., ICU nurse asked if police would speak to a patient about possibly being assaulted. Patient advised that the person she came to visit on vacation refused to call 911 for her when she became ill. The incident occurred in the county. The nursing staff was advised to contact the county if the patient decided to report any further information.
  • Dispute, GW Carver Dr., complainant requested police presence while named subject retrieved items from residence. All ok.
  • Dispute, East Fambrough St., Tenant and landlord disputing over the toilet overflowing inside the apartment. Situation mediated.
  • Dispute, Wheelhouse Lane, met with the complainant who advised neighborhood kids are on her kids. Spoke with juveniles in the area and advised them to stay out of complainant yard. All ok at this time.
  • Agency Assist, Holly Hill Rd., reference to seeing if a named female is on location so Walton County Sheriff’s Office could remove her from being a missing person. She was on location and ok.
  • Loud Music, Walker Dr./Alcovy St., area check completed no loud music heard. All ok at this time. complainant did not want to meet.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart. 16-year-old juvenile was shoplifting clothing items. Couldn’t contact her parents, allowed her to go home. Juvenile complaint and trespass forms were completed. Report taken.
  • Drug Activity, Carver Place/Playground,  reference to juveniles involved in drug activity. Made contact with the juveniles, no drugs were present.
  • Agency Assist, West Marable, DFACS requested assistance with two juveniles being left at home alone. Mother was notified and responded. Report taken.
  • Assault, Walgreens, complainant and Charles Harris said to be fighting in a black Mercedes and Charles was said to be a choking complainant.  After locating the complainant and investigation completed, Harris was arrested for Agg. Assault.
  • Civil Issue, Vine St., complainant advised the situation was handled prior to my arrival and declined a report.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Oak Ridge Dr., reference to a white passenger vehicle driving into the woods.  The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.  Spoke to the male subject who advised this is an ongoing issue.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Monroe Estates, reference to juveniles acting inappropriately.  Officer patrolled the area and everything was 10-4 at the time.
  • Damage Property, East Fambrough St., met with the complainant who stated that someone damaged her side door. Report made.
  • Assist Home Owner, Towler St., met with the complainant who advised her daughter locked the door when she took the trash out. Child opened the window. All ok.
  • Discharge firearm, Wheelhouse Ln., complainant stated that she received a call from a neighbor telling her that someone was shooting at her house. Complainant house was not struck and no shell casings were located, report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Sorrel St./Booth St., vehicle parked on the wrong side of the road. Made contact with the driver, Leon Walker who had active warrants. Leon fled in the vehicle conducted an area check but was unable to locate.
  • Suspicious Person, Piedmont Walton, reference to staff calling because a male subject has been sitting in the lobby since 3 p.m. The subject was asked to leave and he did voluntarily.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Hwy 11/John Deere Rd., an anonymous complainant stated a white Chevrolet pickup truck was failing to maintain lane. Conducted an area check with negative contact.
  • Suspicious vehicle, Hwy 78 at Cedar Ridge, caller advised of a vehicle unable to maintain lane. Georgia State Patrol attempted to stop the vehicle but it continued and was boxed in at Hwy 78 and North Broad. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and turned over to GSP.
  • Area Check in the area of South Broad St./South Side trailer park. In reference to a party. Caller asked for the area to be checked through the night.
  • Juvenile Run Away, Georgia Ave., met with the complainant DFACS advised that 17 years of age was no longer handled by their office. Report made
  • Domestic Dispute, Pine Park St., couple were in an altercation over family issues. Mediated and separated both parties. Report made
  • Dispute, Knight St., Donald Williams believes the next-door neighbor is telling her children to take things out of his yard.  He advised he just wanted Police to be aware and that he is making a complaint to Harry Arnold.
  • Fight, Arnold Point caller advised 30 plus people on location fighting. The area was checked with negative contact.
  • Welfare Check, Carver Place, reference to a male subject not answering the door. Female answered the door once officers were on location and advised that she didn’t hear any knocking.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Carver Place, reference to juveniles being unruly. Spoke with the kids. All ok.
  • Fight at Walton Truck Stop. Two black females fighting in the store. Parties were gone when officers arrived. No property damage at the store.
  • Domestic Dispute, Davis St., two subjects were arguing. No physical altercation occurred. Both subjects provided Project Renewal information and separated.
  • Theft, Williams St., complainant received a video message of a package being taken off his front porch.  Shontavious Strickland was observed taking the package.  Contact made with Strickland who advised where the package was left.  Strickland arrested for theft by taking.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Katie Gravette was caught skip scanning items and trying to leave. Arrest made, report taken.
  • Theft, S. Broad St., upon arrival I met with a female subject who has a diminished mental capacity. She stated people were walking around and it scared her. No crime was reported or observed all ok at this time.
  • Dispute, Hammond Park, the complainant had rented the space at the park and another individual was on location.  Situation mediated.
  • Welfare Check, Michael Cir., a female subject was located and all is ok. The complainant advised the caller was his ex-wife trying to harass him.
  • Vicious Animal, Hubbard St., the complainant reported a white pit bull tried to bite him. He stated it was in the yard next door. Officer confronted the large white Shizu next door and returned it home.
  • Fight, Wheel House Ln., the anonymous complainant stated there was a physical altercation between two subjects. Foster mother and her temporary foster child were involved in a physical dispute. Both parties were escorted to the Police Department for interviews by CID. The juvenile was turned over to DFACS for placement and foster mother will have pending domestic violence charges by CID.
  • Domestic Problem, East Washington St., reference to neighbor seeing three males on the porch and appearing to be having a dispute with the resident. Spoke with the male subject who was uncooperative and refused to tell police what was going on. No signs of domestic violence.
  • Dispute, South Madison Ave./Felker Park, met with the complainant who stated that a couple of B/M Juvenile were throwing items towards their birthday party. The Juveniles were gone upon arrival of the officers. All okay.
  • Dispute, East Washington St., reference to multiple subjects arguing in the street.  Upon Officer arrival, the argument was over.  The situation was mediated. All ok.
