Monroe PD Reports: Drive-by shooting, armed robbery, entering auto, mental health issues and domestic disputes

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 8 – 15, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Discharging Firearms – McDaniel St. Caller advised their house had been shot. Upon Officers arrival multiple bullet holes were located. Multiple shell casings were located in the roadway. Criminal Investigation Division was notified and responded as well as the GBI. 
  • Unknown Problem) E. Church/Hammond Dr. Caller advised that a female was lying in the roadway. Made contact with the subject in the area she stated that she had dropped something in the road and was ok. She refused EMS and was sent home all okay.
  • Suspicious Activity – N. Broad St. – Bojangles in reference to complainant reporting her Lyft driver attempted to take her to Athens instead of the correct address in Winder. Report taken.
  • Burglary Report – E. Spring St. – Walton County Annex in reference to the building being broken into and several tools taken. Criminal Investigation Division was notified and responded. Turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division.
  • Meet with Officer – Alcovy St. in reference to subject needing help lifting her canine into her vehicle.
  • Entering Auto – Unisia Dr. – Hitachi. Reference an unknown subject stealing a wallet out of complainant’s unlocked Honda, while she was working. Report Taken
  • Suspicious Person – S. Broad St. at Atha St. in reference to a W/M wearing gray shorts and a brown hat, yelling. Officers made contact with the subject at Atha St. He said he was talking on the phone. All okay.
  • Damage to Property – King St. complainant stated her Dodge Journey was damaged sometime between last Friday and this date at an unknown location. Report taken.
  • Theft – N. Broad St. – Golden Pantry in reference to subject stealing money out of the register. Report taken.
  • Agency Assist – Monroe Area High School in reference to assisting DFACS. A follow up was conducted at Baker St. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person – N. Broad St. – Sussie’s Wings in reference to a male subject on location asking for money. Area check conducted with negative contact.
  • 911 Hang Up / Domestic – Victory Dr. in reference to two subjects on location disputing. The situation was mediated. One was discovered to have warrants out of Social Circle and Atlanta. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Walton County Jail and turned over to the Jail staff without incident. Report taken.
  • Dispute – Ridge Rd. in reference to a subject causing a disturbance. The situation was mediated. Unknown – G W Carver Dr. Female having mental issues. Turned over to EMS.
  • Dispute – Harris St. /East Church St. in reference to subject disputing with his aunt. The situation was mediated. All 10-4 okay.
  • Juvenile Complaint – 6th St. Complainant stated that juveniles from Bridgeport cut through her yard last date and stole her neighbor’s bike. Complainant asked for advice. Remedies were advised.
  • Theft Report – S. Madison Ave. / Davis St. Complainant advised someone stole his BAJA mini- bike from S. Madison Ave. No serial number was available.
  • Sexual Assault – Garden Court. The complainant stated her daughter was sexually assaulted by her father while visiting him in Semmes, Alabama. She attempted to make a report with Mobile County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama, but was advised to report it to her local jurisdiction first. Report taken.
  • Suspicious person – E. Marable St., Mathews Park. – A complaint of a 20-year-old white male acting unusual. He was recognized the individual as subject who suffers from a brain injury stemming from an automobile accident. Everything appeared okay.
  • Dispute – Davis St. in reference to two subjects arguing. Eviction explained. All ok.
  • Dispute – Chestnut Lane. Two subjects got into a dispute over property. Civil matter, options were advised.
  • Suspicious vehicle – Hwy78 and Unisia. Ref to grey Jeep Cherokee with a tail light out Failure to maintain lane. Turned over to Walton County Sheriff’s Office due to last contact at Mt. Vernon.
  • Mental Patient – Old Mill Point. The complainant was advised of patient care options. All ok
  • Meet with an officer – Magnolia Tr. Complainant requested a ride to Davis Street, which was less than approximately 100 yards away from where she was standing. She was advised of options.
  • Prowler – S. Broad St. in reference to complainant hearing noises under her residence. All was okay.
  • Warrant Served – E. Spring Str. – Gray Orthodontic in reference to a subject sleeping on location. He was discovered to have a warrant out of Walton County. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Walton County Jail without incident. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property – G W Carver Dr. Complainant stated her parked vehicle was hit in the parking lot of George Walton Homes back in late June. Report taken.
  • Welfare Check – E. Church St.- Jack Peters in reference to subject on location disputing with his Aunt. Situation mediated. All okay.
  • Dispute – Hickory Dr. in reference to a vehicle that is broken down in a friend’s yard. The registered owner advised the vehicle would be moved.
  • Follow-up – Hickory Dr. in reference to speaking with a subject about a gas drive-off that occurred on 8/8/19 at Murphy’s USA. The subject paid off debt owed to store and case cleared.
  • Robbery Report – Booth Dr. in reference to a subject advising he was robbed by a light skin black male. He stated his wallet and cell phone were taken. Criminal Investigation Division was notified. Report taken.
  • Assault – Lacy St. Third-party caller advised a B/M assaulted a B/F and both parties were gone when officers arrived. Officer checked the area with negative contact.
  • Theft – MPD in reference to complainant having her daughter’s bicycle stolen from the residence sometime last week.
  • Robbery – E. Marable St. – Monroe Housing Authority. Turned over to Criminal Investigation Division.
  • Damage to Property – MPD in reference to the complainant having his 2014 Dodge Ram truck struck in the area of Tractor Supply.
  • Hit and Run – W. Spring St. – Walmart. 2 vehicles, no injuries. Vehicle #1 left the scene.
  • Civil Issue – Meadowalk – Complainant was advised on how to obtain personal items without violating conditions of bond.
  • Assault – S. Broad personal care home. Two subjects got into a verbal dispute. One subject did obtain an injury during the dispute, but the injury was not intentional. All ok
  • Entering Auto – Hybrid Fitness W. Spring St. in reference to two vehicles with forced entry located in rear parking lot. Black Ozark Trail Hydration Pack and Purple backpack stolen. Report Taken.
  • Suspicious Car – Mlk Jr. Blvd., Just Wings. Reference to a green van in the parking lot. Complainant works for a facility and waits in the lot for orders to be placed. Everything was ok.
  • Child Custody – Spruce Lane. The complainant stated that she and her ex-husband are having a custody battle over their daughter. Options were advised.
  • Vehicle accident) at Church St. and Barron Dr. On arrival it was determined to be with multiple injuries and roadway blockage. Turned over to GSP.
  • Dispute – Stokes St. in reference to two subjects in a verbal dispute over money. Both subjects had been drinking and advised of remedies.
  • Dispute – In the area of Old Mill Point. Third-party caller advised of a fight in one of the cul-de- sacs. Area searched with negative contact.
  • Area Check – Old Mill Run. Complainant advised her 19-year-old son was beaten with a baseball bat and was laid out behind a residence. All units checked the entire neighborhood on foot with negative contact.
  • Dispute – Towler St. Male on location refusing to leave. Second party gone on arrival prior to officer arrival. All ok
  • Suspicious Vehicle -in the area of E. Marable and Mathews Pk. – In reference to two teenagers driving slowly after breaking up. They were advised to go home due to class D driver’s restrictions.
  • Prisoner Transport – An inmate was picked up from Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office on a Failure to Appear warrant out of MPD.
  • Suspicious vehicle – Turner St. Black Nissan Altima with B/F taking pictures of residents. Vehicle located. Female works for a company that buys houses. All okay.
  • Assault – MPD – In reference to complainant wanting to press charges against victim of case from Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Subject walked off before deputy arrived. Information given to deputy.
  • Dispute – E. Church St. – In reference to subject intoxicated and screaming at neighbors. Unable to make contact with the subject.
  • Fight – E. Church St. (Jack Peters store): Verbal dispute started by above mentioned female subject with another female subject. Parties separated. All okay.
  • Agency Assist – Walker Dr.: In reference to an employee with Joe Ray Bonding Company looking for a subject. He will be in a vehicle with a given tag#. Just letting us know that he will be in the area.
  • Juvenile Complaint – meet with a mom at First African Baptist Church in reference to her son not listening or taking his meds. The mom was again referred to the Probate court for a mental evaluation order and juvenile court in reference to his other behavior.
  • Harassing phone call – Atha St. Complainant stated that his ex is calling him and stating that he is a bad father. Advised him to block the number and get a Temporary Restraining Order.
  • Gas Drive Off – W. Spring St /Murphy’s; Subject pumped $30.00 worth of gas and drove off without paying. Unable to make contact with the suspect at any of his listed phone numbers or addresses. Employees did not want to prosecute but want him to pay for the gas and be trespassed from the property.
  • Suspicious Activity – Pineview Dr. in reference to complainant reporting he believed somebody was in his attic. Attic checked and no persons located, however, signs of somebody being on the property were present. Extra Patrol requested.
