Monroe PD Reports: Elder abuse investigation, woman shot in chest

The following are the incidents reported by the Monroe Police Department between July 14 – 20, 2017. Due to the length, this report has been split into three parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute, Pine Park St., complainant advised male subject was knocking on her door and refusing to leave. Subject was gone when officers arrived.
  • Dispute, Michael Cir / Overlook Trail.  Anonymous caller reported subjects yelling nearby.  Made contact with subjects changing a tire and talking loudly.  All was ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, North Midland Ave in reference to a pick-up truck parked on location.  Vehicle was parked on private property and did not return as stolen.  All ok.
  • Damage to Property, Classic Trl., and complainant advised an unknown subject threw a brick through her rear bedroom window.  Report taken.
  • Entering Auto, Forest St., complainant advised his wallet was taken out of his friend’s Saturn from Forest Street.
  • Illegal Dumping, Towler Street.  Contact was made with resident who was complaining of someone littering in his yard.  The trash was picked up.  All ok.
  • Welfare Check, N Broad St / Charlotte Rowell Blvd in reference to an elderly male or female walking southbound on N Broad Street.
  • Intoxicated Person, Taylors Wrecker, female subject on location waiting on the bus and was harassing customers.  The ETA of the bus was 10 minutes. Subject allowed to stay on property until the bus arrived.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, East Church St.  In reference to a semi-truck on East Church Street.  An area check was conducted and negative contact was made.
  • Sexual Assault, East Washington St., complainant  witnesses her 4-year-old son in close proximity to a 14-year-old juvenile male performing a sexual act.  CID notified and responded to the scene.  Report taken.
  • Dispute, Night Street, complainants reported that named subject is violating her bond conditions by riding by their residence and giving them the middle finger.  Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person, North Broad Street.  Several subjects inside the store causing a disturbance.  All subjects were GOA and not located.
  • Dispute, Plaza Dr., complainant stated a coworker came to his residence and attempted to gain entry while demanding money he was owed.  Subject was gone on arrival
  • Found Property, Forest Street.  Homeowner found a wallet belonging to a male subject laying on the ground while she was cutting grass.  She did not know this subject and knew that he did not live in the neighborhood. Could not make contact with subject at the listed address. Wallet placed into evidence.
  • Fight, Classic Trail made contact with complainant on location with children.  All advised everything was ok on location.
  • Civil Issues, Pine Park Street.  Met with complainant who had questions regarding the eviction process.  Remedies were given and he’s currently moving out.
  • Domestic, West Fambrough Street.  Spoke to complainant whom advised he has been having issues with his wife.  He stated his wife has been trying to take their two daughters from their residence and wanted to know his rights as their father.  Met with the wife at Johns Supermarket. She wanted to know her right in removing the children from their residence. Both parties were advised of remedies.
  • Suspicious Activity, Pine Park, complainant heard someone trying to open her back door.  Checked around the residence and could not find anyone in the area. Clay went to stay with family members.
  • Suspicious Person, Radford Street. Shane Foster stated he thought he say someone trying to get into the residence on Radford Street.  Everything secured on location.  Shane Foster had a warrant for his arrest out of Auburn PD which was valid.  Foster arrested and turned over to Auburn PD at the Windstream building.
  • Suspicious Person, North Midland Ave.  Contact made with complainant who sated a male subject was knocking on his door and he wanted him to leave.  Complainant did say he had a pistol but male subject did not mention ever having a gun pointed at him. Male subject was sent on his way.
  • Gun Shots in the area of North Jackson Street. Resident advised he heard about 7 to 8 shots earlier this night then heard three more shot when he called the police.  He stated the shots came from the area of West Marable and Nowell Street.
  • Person Shot, West Marable Street.  While en-route to check the area for the above call.  Dispatch advised a female had a gunshot wound to the chest.  Upon arrival female subject stated she was getting items from her vehicle when she felt something strike her chest.  She discovered a bullet hit her breaking the skin.  Bullet was found on the ground next to the vehicle.  Neighborhood advised that people will shoot in the air almost every night.  Possible two suspects named whom reside on West Marable Street.  CID Responded.
  • Damage to Property, Claywill Circle. Two vehicles damaged.  Nothing taken.  Neighbor advised they observed a black female break the windows of the vehicles.  The female left driving a late 90s model Toyota Camry silver in color.
  • Assault, St. Mary’s Athens – Patient at the hospital said he was assaulted a few days ago at the WalMart in Monroe.  While officer was en-route to take the report patient left the hospital.
  • Dispute, Pine Park, complainant who was drunk stated his girlfriend nephews were disrespectful to his house. Girlfriend stated her nephews left the door opened and complainant told them to close it.  Situation mediated.
  • Dispute, W Spring St.  The dispute was over a patient who was unhappy about being discharged. Patient was gone.  All ok.
  • Damage to Property, Claywill Cir., complainant advised an unknown subject keyed her 2011 Chevrolet Malibu and busted the driver’s side front window.
  • Suspicious Person, Pine Park St.  In reference to an elderly male with a red shirt walking in the area carrying a large knife. Conducted an area check of the area and was met with negative results.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highland Creek Dr.  Maroon mini-van occupied by subject smoking narcotics.  Made contact with male subject in his 2000 Nissan Quest.  Stated he had been kicked out of his residence and sleeping on his vehicle for approximately 2 weeks.  He was ok and told to leave.
  • Dispute, West 5th St., complainant reported $100 and a black leather vest missing from his truck.  He later learned his wife called 911 and had the vehicle unlocked last date. Complainant suspects she took the items.  He was advised of the marital property laws.
  • Dispute, Walker Dr.  In reference to 16-year-old disputing with a 14-year-old brother, about making fun of each other.  Spoke to juveniles and the mother, situation mediated.
  • Animal Complaint, Gatewood Dr., owner let both of his dogs out while he worked in the yard.  Owner was advised of the city ordinance and stated he would keep them locked up. All ok.
  • Suspicious Person, Quality Foods.  Silver mini-van in parking lot with a Hispanic family asking for help to get back to Texas.  Made contact and they advised they were ok and someone had just given them some food.
  • Civil Issue, East Church St in reference to a subject on the property selling watermelons without a permit.  Situation resolved.
  • Dispute, Radford St., complainant upset due to his neighbor is starting trouble with him via untrue rumors. Complainant was informed of the process for a good behavior warrant.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Green St., complainant wanted to report motorcycles have radio on them now and two had driven by her house.  All ok.
  • Animal Complaint, Baker St in reference to two loose canines in the area.  The canines were returned with their owners.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, East Tall Oaks Dr.in reference to a silver 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier occupied by persons possibly smoking narcotics. Vehicle was located in the driveway of E Tall Oaks Dr but nobody was inside the vehicle.
  • Suspicious vehicle, North Broad Street / Sorrells Street.  In reference to a blue station wagon.  No tag information obtain or direction of travel given or what was the reason for the car being suspicious.  Area checked negative contact.
  • Dispute, Green St., complainant stated her neighbors parked a car near her property, spoke with male subject  he advised she was upset because he was digging up fishing bait near her property.
  • 911 Hang Up, West Spring Street – Clearview.  Caller hung up on dispatch.  Checked the area and security advised a nurse called in reference to a group in the lobby being loud.  Everything is ok at this time.  Security would contact back if they needed police.
  • Animal Complaint, West Spring Street – Captain D’s in reference to a dog left in a four door white passenger car with windows down.  Upon arrival, owner was with the dog at the vehicle.  Dog appeared to be ok.
  • Accident, West Spring Street / Breedlove Drive.  No injuries.  Driver 1 was arrested for probation warrant out of Dekalb County.
  • Deceased Person, Davis St., female found deceased in the bed by her son.  CID will be doing an investigation in to Elder Abuse.
  • Domestic, Broad St., Deer Acres Inn in reference to Kavaris Smith having a verbal argument with his girlfriend.  Smith had warrants for his arrest out of Monroe Police and Walton County
  • Suspicious Activity, Gatewood Way, made contact with complainant. She stated her alarm for her back door went off.  The back door was secured and had not been opened, false alarm.
  • Suspicious Person, Stokes Street / Knight Street. Male subject in the street waiting on a ride.
  • Suspicious Activity, Double Springs Church Road – Monroe Area High School.  Officer found buses unsecured on location and doors opened.  Locks appeared to not be damage and doors where left unsecured.  Nothing found damaged or missing on the buses.  Notified key holder and they arrived.  Re-secured the vehicles some unable to be re-secured at this time.  Over 20+ buses opened
  • Noise Complaint, Birch Street.  Located noise coming from Birch Street. Advised homeowner to turn down music and he complied.
  • Suspicious Vehicle in the area of Ashton Point.  Caller said they saw a person in a gray Dodge charger get handed a pistol.  Checked the area and could not locate the vehicle.
  • Noise Complaint, Birch Street.  In reference to music having been turned back up.  Upon arrival of officer, party had been shut down by homeowner.
  • Suspicious Person, Golden Pantry. Black male jumping in front of vehicle and punching the windows.  Negative contact.
  • Noise Complaint, Green St., complainant stated loud vehicles and music coming from a residence in the area contact made with the party at Green Street.  Party was dispersed.
  • Suspicious Activity, Colquitt street.  In reference to a dark in color Nissan Altima 90’s Model subjects getting out and walking to her neighbor’s cars.  All cars were locked.
  • Burglary, Cook Pl.  Made contact with complainant who stated an unknown person entered his residence by breaking a front window. Complainant stated the unknown person took his television before leaving.  Report taken.
