Monroe PD Reports: Fights over phone, weighing garbage and large party crowd

The following are the incidents reported by the Monroe Police Department between June 23 – 29, 2017. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute, East Spring St., Monroe Motor Inn. Parties arguing and separated, all ok.
  • Dispute, Cherry Hill Rd., Public Works Transfer Station. Ref to truck driver and citizen wanting to weigh at the same time. Both parties gone when officers arrived.
  • Dispute, West Vine St. Conestoga Mobile Home Park. Subjects arguing about property. Advised of civil process.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Quality Foods. Subject ran from store and they recovered $42.83 worth of meat. Butts later returned to store and was arrested for shoplifting.
  • Verbal report only taken at MPD, South Broad St., and complainant advised her husband and her were in a verbal dispute on Wednesday where he threatened to punch her instead of the wall. Complainant advised she got a Temporary Protection Order this morning but wanted a report due to the threat.
  • Follow up Walton Rd. Red Nissan reported yesterday recovered in a ditch in front of a vacant residence. CID responded.
  • Suspicious person, Georgia Ave., Walton County Courthouse. Mother on location at DFACS acting suspicious, on location to see her son but too emotional. Given a ride to Family Dollar on East Spring St.
  • Lost item East Washington St., Post Office. Complainant advised she left keys on the counter and she believes someone took them from the counter. Cameras in the Post Office do not work.
  • Welfare check West Vine St. Conestoga MHP. No one had seen resident for approximately a week. Residence entered with permission from landlord, no one on location, all ok.
  • Dispute/Ridge Rd., Pine Ridge Villas. Persons in three vehicles disputing left the area after comp called police. Checked area with negative contact.
  • Fraud report taken at MPD, South Broad St., Complainant reports fraud with Verizon Wireless since December of last year.
  • Theft report Ford St. Ref to someone driving by Davis St. and observed vehicle leaving vacant residence. Met complainant and walked property, did not find anything suspicious.
  • Theft report taken at MPD, South Broad St., and complainant reports theft of S&W 9mm from Stokes St. Pistol entered onto GCIC, No suspects.
  • Request to meet officer at Arcadia Ct. mother of subject who was involved in the fight when subject was shot. In fear of retaliation and requesting extra patrol of her neighborhood as often as possible.
  • Wanted person pick up at the Barrow County Jail. Latricia Smith picked up and transported to WCSO.
  • Suspicious person East church St. and Jack Peters. Silver Tacoma FTML, last seen near Wells Fargo. Checked area with negative contact.
  • Suspicious vehicle Highway 78 and Unisia Dr. Black SUV FTML. Several black SUV’s in the area, Checked area with negative contact.
  • Request to patrol heavily the area of Burch St. Ref to someone on a dirt bike up and down the street. Contact made with subject on moped, advised to stay out of yards.
  • Suspicious person East Spring St. near the Sunshine Cleaners. Female loitering. Good Samaritan took her to Walnut Grove.
  • Suspicious vehicle North Broad and Highland Ave. Anonymous comp advised teal passenger car with no tag. When asked what suspicious, advised just that it was missing a tag. Call cleared.
  • Suspicious vehicle in the area of Burch St. Ref to someone on a motorcycle going up and down the street. Contact made with same moped as before, subject did not have a license and was advised not to drive it without one.
  • Burglary report East Marable St. Complainant advised sister came home around 13:30 to find front door open and lights on inside residence. She did not call 911 at the time and got ready for work. Complainant and mother returned and were unable to gain entry due to not having key. Unable to check inside residence to see what was missing. Will call back after they retrieve a key from Braselton.
  • Complainant advised dirt bike speeding in the area towards the jail. Checked area with negative contact.
  • Dispute, West Spring St., Haven Inn. Dispute between 2 subjects. Male was GOA. One rented room and then snuck other guests in. Altercation between two males male, nothing physical, all ok.
  • Suspicious vehicle on Hwy 78 WB near W. Spring St. exit unable to maintain lane. Loganville PD had contact.
  • Agency assist at Radford St. in regards to DFACS investigation. No evidence of child abuse present, report taken
  • Meet with officers, W. Spring St. (Huddle House) in regards to female having information on sex crimes and illegal guns. Female referred to WCSO due to crimes happening in Woodchase subdivision in County.
  • Burglary, E. Marable St. After structure cleared, determined not a break-in and possibly landlord came to residence. Complainant advised if she noticed anything missing, she would call back.
  • Dirt bikes being rode behind Harris St. Legion and around W. Creek Circle. Contact was made and advised subjects to put ATVs away.
  • Dispute on Old Mill Run in regards to 40-45 people in roadway fighting. Arrived on scene and no active fight.
  • Damage to property, Meadow Walk Dr.  Complainant advised her ex-boyfriend removed flowers from her yard. Further investigation revealed, ex-boyfriend left a note on location stating he would be watching her and that “women like her end up dead”. Report taken.
  • Fraud, Forrest Ln.  Complainant stated unknown person used her debit card info to make 2 purchases today in Atlanta and Mableton in amount of $52.87. Report taken.
  • EMS assist, Mill St. in regards to subject hit in head by his mother by accident while trying to break up dog fight. Subject transported to Clearview by EMS
  • EMS assist, Carwood Dr. in regards to W/M found unconscious in ditch. Arrived on scene and W/M was awake and on porch on Carwood Dr. W/M identified as Bradley Pettit and he stated he does not remember what happened. Pettit had active warrant through MPD for Probation Violation. Witnesses on scene stated Pettit was confronted by residents at Carwood Dr. but not sure who struck Pettit. Homeowner advised that Pettit was not supposed to be on location and was attacked by unknown W/M. Pettit taken to Clearview and medically cleared then taken to Walton County Jail w/o incident.
  • Gunshots heard near Creekview Dr. Checked area with negative contact.
  • Dispute, Sporty Ln. 13 YOA juvenile called police on his grandmother because she would not get off couch. All ok.
  • TPO violation, Thompson Ridge Dr. Complainant was wanting to report a TPO violation that occurred prior to TPO being served. Complainant advised of the proper process
  • Gunshots heard in area of W. Marable St. Checked area with negative contact. Spoke w/ witnesses outside and they advised they have not heard any gunshots.
  • Disturbing the peace, McDonald’s in regards to subject on location making rude comments to manager. Subject was sent on his way.
  • Blocked road, Birch St. in regards to “200” people in roadway about to fight. Large portion of crowd ran away from scene when officers arrived. Party was taking place and several vehicles parked in roadway. Party shut down and subjects sent on way.
  • Suspicious person (x2), Roosevelt St. in regards to 2 B/M sitting in area and suspicious. Contact made w/ the two subjects who advised they were waiting on a ride. Males sent on their way.
  • Suspicious person, Baron Dr. in regards to Complainant stated B/M knocking on her door and then running away. Checked area w/ negative contact. Complainant could not provide clothing description.
  • Disturbing the peace, Tall Oaks Dr. in regards to loud gathering. Security for neighborhood had party disbursed prior to arrival, all ok.
  • Dispute, Launius Ave. in reference to Albert Floyd, Jr and female physically fighting over cell phone. Floyd arrested Family Violence-Battery and Criminal Trespass.
  • Fight, Sorrells St. Anonymous caller advised man was arguing w/ female. Contact made w/ male who stated nobody was arguing and no police were needed.
  • Suspicious person, N. Broad St. (Waffle House) in regards to B/M on location that was knocked out earlier and still on location. Contact made w/ complainant who stated B/M punched him for talking to a female that was with another group of B/Ms but declined medical treatment or any info. Complainant given a ride too Tall Oaks.
  • Welfare check, Radford St. in regards to complainant concerned about friend who was arguing w/ boyfriend and made suicidal threats. Contact made w/ friend and her boyfriend who were ok.
  • Suspicious person, Walmart in regards to W/M possibly intoxicated in gold Honda in parking lot. Checked area w/ negative contact.
  • Suspicious person, Walmart in regards to W/M who was upset he was being carded for buying cigarettes. All ok.
  • Suspicious vehicle on Hwy 138 towards city. White Ford Escape driving reckless. Contact made and vehicle cited for speeding. All was ok.
  • Animal complaint in the area of East Marable St. and Turner St. Two dogs barking in the area, Checked area with negative contact.
