Monroe PD Reports: Gun discharged when victim tripped chasing suspect; Armed burglary interrupted

The following are the incidents reported by the Monroe Police Department between June 9 – 15, 2017. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the third part. Please note and arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Loud Music, West Creek Circle, Homeowner upset about loud music with profane language in the area.  Requested extra patrol.
  • Drugs, Deer Acres Inn, Anonymous complaint of a B/M named selling 38D (drugs) three rooms down from the main office.  Negative contact with anyone matching that description in the area described.
  • Stopping suspicious vehicle/arrest, West Creek Circle & Ashe Lane, Tinnison Lackey arrested for Driving while license suspended.
  • Suspicious vehicle, West Spring Street & Quality Foods, Complainant advised she told soon to be ex-husband, follow her to her residence in reference to a accident involving her son.  She changed her mind about him going to her house, and called 911 for police to tell him to stop following her.
  • Hit and run private property, Etten Dr., complainant stated his vehicle was struck N. Broad St. (JB Foodmart) by a blue Ford Focus and the B/M driver got out, acknowledged damage, then entered his vehicle and left scene. Report taken, no tag given on suspect vehicle.
  • Domestic problem, Maple Ln., juvenile throwing egg at another juvenile. Mother of first juvenile requested report due to mother of second child grabbing her son by his backpack asking for a parent. Report taken.
  • Damage to property, W. Marable St., complainant stated B/M juvenile was attempting to ride ATV near her garden located on side of residence and she asked them to leave, all ok. No damage took place.
  • Firearms discharge heard in area of Ridge Rd. Area checked and all surrounding areas, negative contact.   Called again for same issue. Complainant resides on Ridge Rd. and advised she heard 8-10 gunshots behind her apartment. Another anonymous witness advised she saw 2 W/M behind building up on hill in wood line fire a small handgun into the trees behind building and then fled on foot. The males were described and bald with minor facial hair and other with beard and long hair but no clothing description given. Officer’s checked woods on foot to look for shell casings w/ negative contact.
  • Juvenile complaint, G.W. Carver Dr., complainant advised several juveniles on location earlier with 38-D drugs. Juveniles were GOA upon arrival, no signs of 38-D.
  • Fight call on Tanglewood Dr. Located call on Tanglewood Dr. and verbal dispute between two subjects over washing clothes. No signs of violence and couple separated for evening. All ok.
  • Subject with firearms, Susie’s Wings in regards to caller stating B/M on location in white Honda Accord waving handgun around. Susie’s Wings closed and parking lot empty. Negative contact.
  • Combative patient at Clearview, being combative w/ staff. Arrived on scene, male subject on methamphetamines and work out supplements being combative, assisted staff with administering meds to calm him down. Evaluation has been signed, all ok.
  • Welfare check, Douglas St. in regards to sister wanted police to check on her step-sister due to being ordered no contact. Contact was made parents who stated they have been having issues with the sister but all was ok. All parties advised of civil remedies.
  • Suspicious activity, E. Tall Oaks in regards to complainant finding bottle in back yard possibly thrown in yards by local juveniles. All ok.
  • Prowler report, Meadow Trail. Deaf complainant advised her daughter heard someone ringing doorbell and then walk around the residence. All appeared ok, Area check requested for remainder of shift.
  • Robbery, Nowell St. in regards to complainant selling phone to a named subject. Subject snatched phone out of complainant’s hand and then fled on foot. Report taken.
  • Domestic problem, Radford Park, in regards to son arguing with mother and supposedly not supposed to be on location. Contact made and all ok. Mother advised son can be on location and no argument took place.
  • Domestic problem, W. Marable St.  Arrived on scene and made contact w/ complainant. Complainant stated she told her boyfriend she was going to stay at mother’s house tonight and her boyfriend thought she was going to move out so wanted police to keep things civil. Boyfriend was GOA and complainant stated that’s not what she meant because she just bought groceries. All was ok.
  • Area check Tanglewood and B/M ran on foot behind apartments. B/M was located and detained for field interview. B/M (15 YOA) was identified and he advised he was out looking for WiFi. Juvenile turned over to family on Tanglewood Dr. WCSO gathered information on scene as well due to burglary and ran on foot previous morning. Another juvenile is other suspect.
  • Unknown law, Creekview Dr. in regards to anonymous caller stated he could not talk on phone and then hung up. Once on scene, officer witnessed B/M run into house. After investigating, B/M was identified as Rodney Goss who had active warrants through WCSO. Residence was searched and Goss arrested after being found in closet.
  • Fraud, West Spring Street, complainant needed to file a report concerning four transactions at the ATM at this location that were made using her bank account information.  Complainant is from Charlotte, NC and is disputing the transactions with her bank.
  • Theft, 3rd Street,  complainant reported plumbing tools taken out of the bed of his truck valued at approximately $600.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at North Broad Street / Oak Street, Made contact with male subject on location who was attempting to sell an ATV.  Made contact with property owner on location who advised she did not want male subject ridding the ATV on the property.  Subject removed the ATV from the property
  • Suspicious Vehicle at McDaniel Street / Breedlove Road, Complaint of a white Chevy truck running a stop sign at Spruce Dr and McDaniel Street.  All ok.
  • Burglary, Tanglewood Drive, complainant stated an unknown person entered her residence and stole her 50 inch Magnavox smart TV.  No signs of forced entry.
  • Follow Up on West Vine Street, In reference to a hairbrush left behind by a burglary suspect.  Hairbrush was placed into evidence
  • Loitering on East Spring Street, Employee advised a black female with red hair and a blue dress asking people for money.  Conducted an area check with negative contact
  • Civil Issue, Pine Park, complainant wanted officers to stand by while she removed property.  All ok.
  • Domestic on Tanglewood Drive.  Verbal dispute between 15 year old and his parents.  Juvenile was off the TV upon our arrival.  Juvenile refused to leave with his mother.  Juvenile was picked up by his aunt.
  • Animal Complaint on Michael Etchinson Road (Walton Dental Care) snake near roadway.  Snake was ID as a King Snake (non-venomous) and moved off roadway.
  • Domestic Dispute on East Tall Oaks, married couple in a verbal dispute over cheating allegations.  No criminal act took place and parties were separated and advised of remedies.
  • Juvenile Complainant at East Washington Street / Felker Street in reference to people skate boarding in the road and would not move for cars.  Upon arrival no one was found to be skateboarding and no one was in the road.
  • Wanted Person in the Area of Southside Mobile Home Park in reference to a male subject who possibly had a warrant and was driving a green truck, dispatch advised the warrant was not valid and units left the area.
  • Damage to Property, Bridgeport Lane. Complainant advised juveniles in the area damaged her property Two juveniles arrested and released to parents for Criminal Trespass.
  • Domestic on Baron Drive in reference to father and his son were in an argument and Javonte punched Parks.  Parks hit Javonte in the head with a hammer causing a gash on his head, Parks arrested for Aggravated Assault.
  • Theft in area of Booth Drive and Sorrels Street. Found victim behind Susie’s Wings. Initially believed to be a robbery. After further investigation found to be a snatch and grab robbery at Rose Ison Terrace. Victim, advised he was on location selling two iPhone 6 Plus. Had made contact with the buyer through offer up app. He stated he met with a young black male wearing a black green red and yellow shirt with a hood and draw strings and a female rapper on the front, wearing black pants, clean shaven head and a scar next to his right eye. He said the male grabbed to phones, pushed him, and ran off through the woods behind the apartments. The victim chased male through the woods while his wife called 911. The victim tripped on the woods and fell causing his gun to go off. He lost sight of the male suspect. The victim advised when he got back to his vehicle and turned down Booth Drive an older model green Nissan Altima with a gold Nissan emblem pulled up next to his vehicle and the male driver brandished a gun. No description of the male. The victim drove off to Susie Wings. No serial numbers were provided at this time for the phones.  CID Notified.
  • Domestic on West Spring Street (Moe’s) in reference to complainant stated her ex-boyfriend asked to use her phone and became upset and became upset at her coworkers for looking at him. Ex-boyfriend walked off with the phone.  Advised of civil remedies.
  • Domestic, Tanglewood Lane.  Made contact with complainant whom stated her boyfriend called her a bitch so she told him to leave.  Boyfriend was GOA upon arrival.
  • Traffic Stop at South Madison Ave / East Washington.  Driver cited for no insurance vehicle towed by towing company.
  • Burglary in progress on East Tall Oaks.  Officers heard a male voice begging not to kill him.  Officers made entry and found a male subject and Bryant Crutchfield inside the residence.  One male subject hit the ground upon seeing officers and Crutchfield was seen holding a pistol at the victim he dropped it in the kitchen and fled on foot.  Officers pursued Crutchfield to Magnolia Terrace where he was taken into custody.  Warrants to be taken.
  • Juvenile Complaint on East Washington Street in reference to young juveniles playing in street.  Located juveniles in the parking lot of James Monroe Homes.  Turned around to meet with juveniles and they were no longer in the parking lot area.
  • Damage to Property, Davis Street, and complainant advised he had a no contact bond with female subject.  He stated female keeps texting him and calling him.  He also advised that she damaged his clothing and dumped his clothes on the windshield of his vehicle at Pine Park Street.
  • Unknown Law, Sporty Lane, complainant would not let police inside the house due her mother being crazy. Advising we would kill them as they did not believe we were the police.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Mathews Parks located a blue 2003 Dodge Caravan with a male and female subject in it advised to leave the park.
