Monroe PD Reports: Gunshots reported, public and excessive drinking

The following are the incidents reported by the Monroe Police Department between April 28 – May 4, 2017. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an  arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Drugs, Towler Street, Reference, complainant advising two named subjects were doing drugs.  No evidence of that and no reason to search premises of above persons.  Attempted to contact complainant with no answer
  • Person Hit with vehicle on East Spring Street at Hammond Drive.  Subject struck by vehicle while crossing the street.  Subject transported to Athens Regional Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  Scene turned over to Georgia State Patrol
  • Citizen Assist, complainant had question about custody issues with her husband advised her to speak with the courts and she requested a welfare check on her kids on Friendship Church Road.  Drove out and the kids were ok.
  • Disturbing the peace in the area of Walker Drive.  Located male subject outside drinking and being loud on Walker Drive.  Advised his wife to take him inside.
  • Dispute in the area of Perry Street.  Caller advised they heard yelling in the area.  Officer’s checked the area with negative contact.
  • Domestic, Pine Park Street, female subject locked out of her residence.  Attempted to make contact with anybody inside the residence and was met with negative results.  Advised female subject to contact police if her boyfriend arrived and would not let her inside the residence.
  • Gunshot in the area of East Church Street (Sparrow Hill Inn) caller stated she heard gunshots in the area and then stated they came from Sparrow Hill Inn.  Officers checked the area and did not find any shell casing.  Officers attempted to get someone to come to the door at Sparrow Hill Inn and could not.  Officers checked the inside through the windows and did not see any signs of distress from the inside.  Attempted to contact a key holder but was unable to reach one.
  • Dispute at the Monroe Motor Inn, male subject stated he bought a car and when he was arrested the car owner took the car back and the car is now over at Cook Street.  Male subject did not have a bill of sale and did not have any proof that the vehicle was his.  Advised male subject to go file a civil suit against the person that he bought the car from.  Spoke to the car owner and she stated that the car title is with Title Max and she showed me that the car is still legally in her name.
  • Drunk Person, MLK Jr Blvd. Applebee’s Reference to male and female and male possible getting into a vehicle after drinking all night at Amici’s and Applebee’s.  A concerned citizen who works at Amici’s contacted the police to check on the status of the two subjects.  Everything was ok.
  • Dispute, North Broad Street Fusion.  James Lewis arrest for disorderly conduct refusing to give officers his name and yelling at officer telling her to lock him up.
  • Damage to Property, North Broad Street (Deer Acres Inn) Clerk advised male subject was damaging property and urinating everywhere into room.  Small hole in bathroom door. Subject was already in the bed asleep.  Clerk advised she would ask management in the morning to charge damage onto credit card on file.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring Street (WalMart) male was seen walking around the back side of WalMart negative contact with the male.
  • Unknown Medical, Green Street in reference to a female subject passing out on the couch.  Upon officer arrival could not wake subject up EMS took subject to Clearview due to drinking too much.
  • Fight in the Parking, MLK Jr. Blvd Applebee’s Checked the area and negative on fight.
  • Dispute, North Broad Street (Deer Acres Inn) Frankie Jumper walked down to the front officer screaming and yelling at the clerk.  Arrested for public drunk.
  • Agency Assist at Vine St., Barrow County Sheriff’s Offic requested an officer check location and make contact with female subject to see if she knew where her vehicle was because they were out with it.  Location checked and found to be vacant.
  • Suspicious vehicle, in Tractor Supply parking lot. Black Mustang speeding through parking lot, area checked with negative contact.
  • Dispute, E. Church St. (Chevron) in regards to customer upset she didn’t get correct change back from purchase. Situation mediated.
  • Suspicious person, Davis St. in regards to large group walking in area. Community group was walking and picking up trash. All ok.
  • Suspicious vehicle, Walmart in regards to K9 in vehicle. WCSO was out w/ vehicle and requested Monroe Police. While inside Walmart trying to locate owner, the owner returned to vehicle and WCSO cited driver and left scene without advising
  • Theft, Hwy 78 (Waffle House) in regards to W/M who ate and left scene w/o paying. W/M left in black Chevy S-10 and headed towards Unisia Dr., area checked with negative contact. Follow up at McDonald’s due to W/M wearing uniform w/ negative contact.
  • Dispute, S. Madison Ave. (Quick Pick) between cashier and customer and customer pushed cashier and made threats.
  • Suspicious vehicle X2 at Hwy 138 and Michael Etchison Rd. in regards to gold minivan and red SUV speeding/racing. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Suspicious vehicle, on W. Creek Circle in regards to B/M riding dirt bike in roadway and speeding. Contact made at Harris St. Legion and advised to stay off roadway.
  • Fight call on Nowell St. near cemetery involving multiple B/F and called in by juvenile on 911 only phone. Area checked with negative contact. Nowell St. and W. Marable checked, all appeared ok.
  • EMS assist, Court St. and S. Broad St. in regards to W/M having seizure and EMS smelled heavy odor of marijuana. Vehicle searched w/ negative contact. Persons searched and Savannah Thomason arrested for possession of meth and turned over to FIT.
  • Burglary Attempt, South Madison Ave, Sheila Saginar peeled the weather stripping off the back door of the residence.  Ms. Saginar loitering around Stokes Street, South Madison for approximately a week.  Ms. Saginar arrest for disorderly conduct.
  • Wanted Person, West Spring Street (Clearview) reference to an Amber Nichole Hardy with an active warrant out of Barrow County for probation violation.  Amber got in a vehicle and left the scene.  Was stopped at Waffle House and arrested
  • Domestic, Pine Park Street, complainant advised her boyfriend still has not returned her apartment key to her from last date.  Advised of civil remedies and to contact landlord for another key if necessary.
  • Domestic, Pine Park Street, complainant and boyfriend from above disputing over the keys to the apartment.  Dispute mediated.  All parties left the scene.
