Monroe PD Reports: License check at Tanglewood nets 3 arrests

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 4 – 10, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Vehicle, North Midland Ave./Pot Luck Cafe. Officer made contact with the registered owner and she advised she was going to have the vehicle towed.
  • Welfare Check, Custom Way, reference to female subject not showing up for work. Officer made contact and advised subject to contact her job. All ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Baker St., reference to a Nissan Altima in the roadway with flashers on. On arrival, the driver was changing the front tire. All ok.
  • Drug Complaint, Custom Way, reference to a named female subject on location selling drugs. Officer made contact with subject who advised she has been having problems with people down the street. Negative contact with any drugs or any evidence of drug use at the residence.
  • Damage to Property, Walton St., complainant reported that during the night an unknown person broke the water fountain in his back yard. Report taken
  • Damage to Property, North Midland Ave., complainant stated that between May 2nd, 2018 and May 7th, 2018 her car was keyed by an unknown person. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property, Norris St., complainant stated a white Tahoe drove over the curb and struck his fence and mailbox causing damage. Report taken.
  • Harassment, Rose Ison Terrace, complainant advised a named subject who took a temporary protection order out on her is riding through her neighborhood and calling and texting her. She was advised of remedies.
  • Dispute, West Vine St., reference to two subject disputing over a canine. Situation mediated.
  • Damage to Property, Towler St., Witness stated she observed a silver/tan SUV strike and damage the mailbox at this residence then turn into Monroe Estates. Officer located the vehicle at Old Mill Point and made contact with the driver. The driver advised he was extremely tired and was not aware that he had struck an object. Damage on the vehicle matched the mailbox. Driver was cited, and report taken.
  • Domestic, Overlook Trail, Officer met with male and female subjects who got into a verbal argument over items in the home. Female stated she would go to her apartment for the evening. Report Taken.
  • Welfare Check, Towler St., reference to making contact with a female who would not answer the phone.  Caller advised he made contact and MPD was no longer needed
  • Dispute, Breedlove Dr., Ridgeview, mother was experiencing communication issues while dealing with staff and her son’s assessment.  The situation was mediated.
  • Shoplifting, North Broad St., reference to black male taking beer on multiple occasions. Subject was stopped before he was able to take an item today. Complainant advised he would call police if subject returned for criminal trespass warning.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to a white male and female holding a sign to solicit for money. F.I.S.H. was contacted and denied a room due to male and female having an animal.
  • Suspicious Person, Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Checkers, reference to male subject falling down and leaning on walls and counter. Spoke with subject who had neurological issues from accident. No other issues. Subject left Checkers with no issues. 
  • Animal Complaint, South Broad St., reference to a K9 running loose. K9 was captured and turned over to Animal Control
  • Domestic, South Broad St., Met with complainant who advised named male subject arrived at her home and was asked to leave. He then pushed complainant causing injury and fled the area in a tan passenger car. Report Taken.
  • Traffic Stop, N. Broad, Greystone Church, reference to Ervin Sutton running the stop sign at Tanglewood Dr./ North Broad St., Ervin Sutton had a warrant out of Madison County and was driving on a suspended license. Ervin Sutton was also in possession of over a ounce of marijuana, he was placed under arrest and transported to the City of Monroe Police Department to be fingerprinted and was then transported to the Walton County Jail and turned over to the jail staff without incident. Report taken.
  • Dispute, East Marable St., reference to complainant stating named male subject was allowing people to come to the residence and steal her medication. Complainant stated she had burned herself approximately 3 day ago due to being under stress, she advised she had went to the urgent care for the burn and declined EMS. Complainant requested extra patrol, everything on location ok.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Hannah Lane, reference to parents smelling marijuana being smoked in the daughter’s room.  The odor was observed but no marijuana was located.
  • Burglary Report, Tall Oaks Lane, reference to complainant coming home and discovering his tv a 49″ LG 4K flat screen was stolen, there were no signs of forced entry, report taken and tv listed on GCIC as stolen.
  • Dispute, West 5th St., reference to ongoing dispute between male and female. Disputing over money. Male wanted for a hotel room to leave the residence.
  • Intoxicated Person, Creek View Dr., complainant said named male subject was intoxicated and left with the house keys after removing batteries from the phones and possibly taking $40 from her purse.
  • Found Property, South Madison Ave., reference to caller locating stolen ATV. Report made to document recovery.
  • Suspicious Vehicle in the area of Broad St./East Spring St., reference to a sliver in color sedan with flashing blue and green light, area check conducted with negative contact.
  • Suspicious Activity, Carwood Dr., reference to hearing something outside the residence.  Checked the residence an no one found outside.
  • Extra Patrol, New Lacy St., reference to complainant requesting extra patrol due to finding her front door kicked in. Complainant did not request to meet with Officer at this time.
  • Theft, Plaza Trace, complainant advised someone stole a STIHL backpack blower off his lawn care truck. Report taken.
  • License Check, Tanglewood Dr./North Broad St., approximately 42 vehicles were checked and three (3) arrests made. One citation for open container.
  • Theft, Reed St., complainant advised someone took several pieces of lawn equipment. Report taken.
  • Shoplifting, Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, Tractor Supply Co., reference to a white male stealing several items and was gone in a Silver in color Ford F150 pickup truck. Report taken.
  • Dispute, Country Club Dr., reference to subjects disputing in the front yard. The subjects were gone when officers arrived.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Great Oaks Dr., reference to grey Acura with no tag.  The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
  • Welfare Check, Clubside Dr., husband advised he cannot locate his wife. Made contact with family members who are en route to husband. All ok.
  • Dispute, Harris St., reference to a verbal dispute between married couple. Situation mediated, and parties separated.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, North Broad St., Charlotte Rowell, reference to a black truck failing to maintain lane. Negative contact.
  • Dispute, West Spring St., Haven Inn, reference to a male subject arguing with staff. He was wearing grey jogging pants and a long shirt. Correct subject was throwing items and being disruptive on the premises. Employee advised there was no property damage and he just wanted the subject banned from the location. Subject was given a refund and served with a criminal trespass warning for two years. Subject left the location. All ok.
  • Dispute, Carver Place, reference to complainant advising named female subject has been harassing her great-granddaughter. Subject at the school bus stop and a local park due to not wanting complainant around her kids. Subject advised she will obtain a Good Behavior Warrant.
  • Dispute, Double Springs Church Rd., complainant was refusing to go home and advised of abuse. The abuse allegations have already been documented and a juvenile complaint has been filed against complainant. Complainant was given an escort to her residence and on arrival she got into her mother’s vehicle and agreed to go to Summit Ridge. DFACS was also notified.
  • Damage to Property, Fawnfield Dr., Met with caller who wished to report damage to their mail box. No suspect vehicle was located. Report taken.
