Monroe PD Reports: Officer buys bus ticket for subject needing a ride

Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 23 – 29, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note and arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Child Custody Dispute, Wellington Dr., complainant stated his ex-stepson took his children from the residence. He advised his ex-wife has been keeping his kids away from him and has been in violation of the custody agreement. Complainant advised his ex-stepson was told to take the kids by his ex-wife. Complainant was advised to file a child custody dispute report in his local jurisdiction.
  • Dispute, Highway 78 East, Truck Stop, Truck driver disputing with staff and other truck drivers over a parking spot. Subject and truck were gone when officers arrived. Manager requested extra patrol due to Walmart DC closing its truck stop for the next three days.
  • Shoplifter, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to male subject changing bar codes to cheaper items. Charged with shoplifting.
  • Civil Report, South Broad St., MPD Parking lot, reference to complainant wanting report due to child custody, she stated her ex-husband tried to pick the kids up from her neighborhood at the bus stop, she stated it was not his week to have the children. Report taken.
  • Gun Shots, South Broad St., Caller believed they heard gun shots in the area. it was the power company working on the transformers.
  • Suspicious Person in the area of Davis St/Pine Park St., made contact with subject, everything on location ok.
  • Intoxicated Person, Highway 78, reference to female subject on location, intoxicated. She was picked up by a friend.
  • Sexual Assault, Clearview Regional Medical Center, reference to an elderly female advising she had been sexually assaulted. Incident occurred at Park Place Nursing Home.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, South Broad St., First United Methodist Church, reference to a vehicle running with a person sleeping inside. Contact made with driver who stated he was worried he would fall asleep while driving. Driver was sent on his way, all was okay.
  • Vehicle Accident, West Spring St./Breedlove Dr., 2 vehicles, no injuries. Driver 1 (Jamie Edwards) provided officer with a false name and DOB.  Mrs. Edwards had three valid warrants for her arrest. She was charged and fingerprinted for disorderly conduct and driving without a license. She was turned over to Walton County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
  • Domestic Dispute, West 5th St., complainant advised her husband got upset while getting their 5-year-old son ready for school. She stated he threw the child’s shoe and knocked over their youngest child. Husband admitted to throwing the shoe, but it was not thrown at anyone. All ok.
  • Meet with Officer, West 5th St., complainant wanted to advise Officers that multiple vehicles speed up and down West 5th Street during the night time hours. He requested extra patrol.
  • Suspicious Package, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to a suspicious package in the parking lot. UGA PD responded with their canine and checked the package. All was ok.
  • Suspicious Person, East Spring St., FISH, reference to a black male in dark color clothing trying to get change with a counterfeit bill. Made contact with subject at the Valero on East Spring Street. He stated he was trying to get money for a bus ticket to Atlanta. He had an active warrant through Pennsylvania with no extradition. Subject had a stack of motion picture $20 bills which he advised he uses for his rap videos. The bills were taken and placed into evidence. Both FISH and Mr. Quicks declined prosecution. Officer purchased subject a bus ticket to Atlanta.
  • Vehicle Lockout, West Spring St., Haven Inn – Lenorris Talford called to have his vehicle unlocked. Upon unlocking the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was observed coming from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and a Taurus 9mm was located.  Mr. Talford advised he was in possession of the vehicle and no one else had driven it to this location.  Mr. Talford was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  Mr. Talford’s girlfriend was issued city ordinance citation for possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce after she gave officer a small amount of marijuana that was located inside of their room.
  • Child Abuse, Georgia Ave., reference to DFACS advising Officers of possible abuse to 8-year-old. Report taken, DFCS to follow up with more information.
  • Suspicious Person, Breedlove Dr. in front of Ridgeview, reference to a female walking in the roadway. Officer made contact with female who was walking to Carmichael’s. Female got back into the vehicle with her husband. All ok.
  • Threats, West Spring St., Pizza Hut, complainant advised named female subject threatened to stab him in his neck. There were no third-party witnesses. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Subject, West Spring St., reference to male subject inhaling keyboard cleaner. Subject advised he was having suicidal thoughts. He was taken to Clearview Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
  • Theft in Progress, Dean St., reference to the complainant receiving a call that subjects were inside his residence. The residence was cleared, and all was ok.
  • Damage to Property at IHOP, reference to complainant’s vehicle being struck this date between 0630 and 1620 hours. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Hwy 11, reference to a reckless Honda Civic. Officer made contact, and all was ok.
  • Suspicious Person, North Broad St., reference to a white female wearing a Tommy Hilfiger shirt, stumbling near the roadway. Officer searched the area with negative contact.
  • Welfare Check, Tall Oaks, reference to checking the welfare of female subject. She was ok.
  • Stolen Bike, Douglas St., reference to complainant reporting his friend’s dirt bike being stolen,
  • Suspicious Person, Spruce Lane, male subject was charged with Possession of Marijuana less Oz.  female subject was charged with driving as CP without a licensed driver.
  • Dispute, West Spring St., reference to female subject refusing to leave nail salon. Issued criminal trespass warning and left.
  • Dispute, Towler St., reference to complainant disputing with her neighbor over name calling, situation mediated. Everything on location ok.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Magnolia Terrace, reference to 5-6-year-old kids behavior on playground. Complainant spoke with parents and resolved situation.
  • Welfare Check, Shamrock Dr., reference to anonymous caller advising of possible drug use at the residence around the kids in the home. Made contact with residents everything on location ok.
  • Suspicious Activity, East Spring St./Hwy 11, reference to caller wanting police to check area for a van she saw with two males and what she thought was a juvenile wrapped up in a carpet in the back at approximately 1815 Hours. Checked area with negative contact.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Gatewood Dr., reference to mother stating her daughter is being bullied by named subject who lives in the neighborhood. Mother requested a report to document the incident stating it’s been an ongoing issue, I made contact with mother of subject who stated the mother’s children bully her children as well, both parents were advised to keep their children separated. Report taken.
  • Threats, Custom Way, reference to complainant arguing with a group teenager over their ball landing in her back yard, the teenagers were mad because complainant’s dog was in the back yard. One of the teenagers a light skinned black male approximately 13-14 y/o threatened to get a firearm. Subjects were gone when officers arrived, one juvenile was located and brought to the residence, complainant stated he was not the one who threatened his wife. Juvenile was turned over to his aunt, the complainants requested extra patrol.
