Monroe PD Reports: Officers rescue dog left in hot car for second time

The following are the incidents reported by the Monroe Police Department between July 14 – 20, 2017. Due to the length, this report has been split into three parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Animal Complaint, New Lacy St., complainant advised her cousins pit-bull got loose and they were afraid of it.  The grandmother came outside and put the dog back on the leash.  All ok.
  • Animal Complainant, Hwy 138 in reference to a dog in the roadway.  Officer observed the dog in the roadway but ran into the woods behind Balmar Outdoors.  Could not locate the dog any further.
  • Suspicious Person, West Ridge Avenue in reference to two white females walking carrying milk jugs.  Females were gone when officers arrived.
  • Suspicious Person, North Broad St / Tyler St., complainant stated a young man approached her and “probably” wanted to steal her purse.  Made contact with male subject who stated he said “hey” to her because he rakes her grass. Complainant has medical issues. All was ok.
  • Suspicious Person, BB&T in reference to a citizen needing to talk.  Citizen wanted to ask about a civil issue concerning his son and his wife.  All ok.
  • Dispute, Tanglewood Dr.  Made contact with the complainant who was walking on Tanglewood Dr and refused to speak to officers or provide any information concerning the possible dispute.  The complainant kept stating, “I’m good” and then walked away.
  • Animal Complaint, West Spring St. in reference to a small dog left in an unattended vehicle.  Contact was made with the vehicle and the dog was panting while inside.  Entry was made to the vehicle to make it safe for the dog.  Telephone contact was made with the owner of the vehicle who came outside.  Similar incident earlier this date involving the same vehicle owner at WalMart in Loganville.  Vehicle owner was educated on the dangers of leaving a dog unattended in a vehicle during the summer months.  Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person, Pine Park St / Mears St., female subject hiding behind a tree at the site of the officer.  Subject stated she possibly had a warrant but after a GCIC check, no warrant was active.  All ok.
  • Traffic Violation, Hwy 138 / City Limit in reference to a white GMC Pick Up with an older white driver who ran complainant off the road and brandished a hand gun.  An area check was conducted and was met with negative results.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Davis St. /South Madison Ave., male subject issued a warning citation for a Canceled Tag.
  • Dispute, Plaza Trace Country Grove Apt., male and female subject disputing over a civil issue of an eviction. Female subject just wanted to find out what the process was to get someone evicted.  All ok.
  • Suspicious Person, Windsor Dr in reference to a black male panhandling for money & food.  An area check was conducted and was met with negative results.
  • Disturbing the Peace, Matthews Park in reference to a four wheeler riding around the park tearing up the grass.  Negative contact was made inside the park and surrounding area.
  • Civil Dispute, East Fambrough St., married couple in a civil dispute over a vehicle.  Referred them to magistrate court.
  • Animal Complaint, South Broad St., Located a dog walking down 5th street but could not locate the owners.  Dispatch advised animal control would not respond unless it was an emergency.Dispute, 4th Street.  While checking for the dogs owners.  Neighbor flagged down officer and advised people were fighting at the corner house on 4th Street.  Made contact with three male subjects. They advised they were just playing around and everything was ok.
  • 911 Hang up, Old Mill Point, Made contact with complainant she stated her sister and her husband were arguing and they called.  Both parties involved left prior to police arrival.
  • Burglary, Marable Lane, male and female subjects stated unknown party kicked in their back door and took an estimated $21,000 in cash from residence.
  • Suspicious Person, Taco Bell.  On duty manager stated a black female was on location causing a minor disturbance.  Subject was gone on arrival.
  • Dispute, Magnolia Terrace, complainant  stated that subject’s kid called her fat and then she called the police because she wanted to get subject  kick out of her apartment.
  • Dispute, East Fambrough St., Met with complainant who stated his ex-girlfriend came over to his house tonight accusing him of stealing her weed.  Courtney Nelson broke a speaker and a vase and was record on audio threatening to break complainant’s windows out.  Courtney arrest for disorderly conduct.
  • Welfare Check at Hardy’s in reference to an older man in a wheel chair in front of store. Male subject on location waiting for them to open.
  • Domestic, GW Carver.  Craig Jernigan arrested for aggravated assault, battery and obstruction after chocking and biting his child’s mother.
  • Suspicious Activity, East Church Street  in reference to hearing people yelling possibly in the area of Wall.  Checked the area and could not locate anyone outside.
  • Suspicious Activity, Mary St., In reference to an unknown person knocking on complainant’s door.  Negative contact with anyone in the area.
  • Found property, East Marable St., Mathews Park. Walton County Parks and Rec employee found .38 cal near entrance to park. Placed into evidence.
  • Agency assist, West Marable St. Walton County Animal Control request officer assistance at this residence due to past calls. Dogs taken last Monday advised if they were not reclaimed they’d become county property, all ok.
  • Found property turned over to South Broad St., MPD, employees found male subject’s wallet in an apartment that was recently vacated. His family was contacted and told the wallet is now at the MPD.
  • Fire Assist, North Broad St., Deer Acers Inn. Smoke in the room. Gene Gravette arrested for violations of conditions of probation. Warrants to be taken by GA probation after it was discovered he had a no contact order with female subject as a condition of probation who was in the hotel room with Gravette during the fire call. Probation advised they were revoking Gravette at that time and requested that he be taken to their office.
  • Dispute, Old Mill Point. Ref to 19-year-old being disrespectful to mother. Mother advised she was in the process of getting him evicted and wanted him removed sooner. Advised of the civil process.
  • Welfare check, Mountain View Dr. DFACS requesting welfare check due to a child molestation. Report taken.
  • Suspicious vehicle, in the area of Charlotte Rowell. Comp advised red ford focus Failure to maintain lane. Vehicle stopped at Tractor supply. Driver checked ok.
  • Assault, N. Hammond Dr. (Athens Tech Track) in regards to complainant stating male subject came to the track where she was and punched her in the face. There were no visible marks and only witness was a 5-year-old child. Due to lack of evidence, no criminal charges at this time but incident will be documented.
  • Civil issue, Alcovy St. in regards to complainant stating Monroe Trash pick-up has been leaving garbage cans in her driveway that belong to her neighbors. Complainant requested report and advised of civil remedies. Report taken.
  • Animal call, (dog in vehicle) complaint Windsor Dr. in regards to dog inside a vehicle parked in garage and vehicle has windows rolled up. Owner was outside doing yard work and advised the dog was put there to keep from getting into things in yard, all was ok.
  • Welfare check, W. Spring St. (Peachstate Federal Credit Union) in regards to scooter parked at ATM that belongs to male subject and subject not on location. Caller advised subject has onset of dementia and possibly walked off. An area check was performed and no scooter was on location. Subject supposedly lives on E. 5th St, area checked and not a valid location. W. 5th St. checked as well w/ negative contact.
  • Dispute, Green St. in regards to complainant disputing w/ a juvenile. Arrived and discovered complainant was actually disputing w/ neighbor she has not seen in a long time and advised neighbor he must have been locked up. After investigating, complainant started the dispute w/ neighbors due to neighbor digging for worms on his property. Parties separated and complainant advised to call Harry Arnold to confirm where property line is.
  • Welfare check, Wall St. in regards to family of male subject has not heard from him in 2 weeks. Attempted to make contact and had negative contact. Neighbors advised they saw him yesterday. Family was called back and notified.
  • Anonymous call regarding male subject walking in area of Cook St. due to call of Family Violence from earlier. Due to lack of evidence, no charges at this time on Reed. Area checked w/ negative contact.
  • EMS assist, E. Fambrough St., in regards to subject on location w/ injuries. Male subject passed out from alcohol and marijuana and struck head on brick floor. Transported by EMS to Clearview
  • Harassment, Thompson Ridge Dr., complainant stated a group of older male juveniles walked by her residence earlier making racial slurs and “Asian” noises to complainant while she was doing yardwork and 1 juvenile resides on  Thompson Ridge Crt. Contact made w/juvenile  and father and advised of punishment for hate crimes. Father advised the incident will be handled. Report taken.
  • Suspicious female at Scoops. W/F was upset because Scoop’s was closed and she could not get her ice cream. Female just wanted to make sure customers got to their vehicles ok. Suspicious female was gone when officer’s arrived.
  • Follow up at Rivers of Mercy Church on Davis St. in regards to mother stating her child’s father took their daughter without her permission and has had their daughter since June 16th. Mother stated child’s father has no rights to their child and has since turned off his phone and won’t provide his location. A report has been filed but further investigation will take place and an additional report. Juvenile has been entered on GCIC as missing person.
  • Warrant attempt, Booth Dr. in regards to Jalana Turner being on location asleep and has an active warrant. Contact made w/ Turner and she was arrested for Violation of Probation warrant.
  • Suspicious person, N. Broad St. in regards to B/M wearing red shorts and holding white shirt seen leaving complainant’s property. Contact made w/male subject who stated himself and friend witnessed suspect named given lurking around house and sitting inside of friend’s vehicle. When confronted, named subject ran off on foot towards GW Carver homes. Report requested
  • Dispute, Hubbard St., complainant disputing w/male subject for walking through his yard. Male subject was advised to stay off property. Situation mediated.
  • Domestic dispute, W. Marable St., complainant called 911 and advised he was disputing with his child’s mother and also had a warrant and wanted to turn himself in. All apartments were checked including Apt. and an area check done on foot. Could not locate dispute or location. All appeared ok  and no active warrant for complainant,
  • Threats, Walton County Sheriff’s Office lobby in regards to complainant stating her ex-husband is making threats to her and her family. Incident took place in the county and WCSO advised to meet with complainant
  • Suspicious Vehicle, West Spring St., Murphy USA. Ref to a vehicle waiting at the gas pumps for the business to open, all ok the vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
  • Damage to property, Michael Etchison Rd. Walton Dental Care. Ref to a broken window, appears as if someone threw a rock or other object and broke it.
  • Stopping suspicious vehicle from Sorrells St. to Perry St., Male  subject  was cited for seatbelt, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, too fast for conditions, no license on person, expired tag (Jan 2017) and no insurance. Vehicle impounded by towing company.
  • Dispute, Glenwood Ave. Neighbors dog got loose and attacked the complainant’s dog in her own yard. Animal control responded.
  • Dispute report, New Lacy St., complainant said her friends kids found dope on the path near her house and Magnolia. Complainant advised she flushed the dope but male subject said it was his and threatened her.
  • Suspicious person/vehicle, Michael Etchison Rd. and HW 138. Black F150 with driver possibly intoxicated.. Contact made with Leonard Couch who was arrested for driving while license suspended, driving under the influence, following too close, and no insurance.
